Hey what's going on everybody?
I seem to have encountered a slight problem. Actually this happened a little while ago, but anyway, my enter button no longer works. The issue I have is that I have songs that I transfered to my computer via USB so that I would have additional space on my keyboard for more work. Then the enter button broke and now I can no longer access the the USB storage function, which means that I can't convert those SVQ's to SMF's to then take into Pro Tools.
I'm not concerned with the songs currently on the keyboard because I can just run midi and audio from my keyboard into my Mbox. However, some of those songs I have on my computer I really want to be able to go back and edit some stuff because there are a few gems in there. I looked for a program to convert the SVQ's into a workable format, but the only program I could find runs on Windows and I'm on OSX. I also came to find that an SVQ file from the Fantom-X won't work on my Fantom-G because of the differences in the sequencer (DAMN!).
Anyway, if anyone has some advice for me that would be greatly appreciated. Either a work around for the problem with my enter button (which would be PRIME) or a program that can convert the files would be awesome. I spent most of the day today trying to figure this out, looking both in the manual and online. Again, thanks in advance.

blow some compressed air through near the button and see if that helps. You might need to get a new button and solder it in. Parts are still cheap but you need to know how to solder or get someone that does.
This is quite common on these boards.

I may have to try that, however, the only problem is that it's more than just my enter button that doesn't work. A friend of mine was at my house and we were working on music and he spilled some liquid on it. The pads, the enter button, exit button, shift, effects button, and a couple keys don't work. I took it into a repair shop and was told it would cost $1200 for parts and labor. I was kind of afraid to mess with it before because of fear of erasing what's on the hard drive, but I may have to see what I can do now that I have some additional training in the area and a little more confidence in what I'm doing.
Anyway, it looks like the biggest help would be finding a program that can convert SVQ's to SMF's. Thanks for the advice though.

Sticky or non functioning buttons from spilled drinks are actualy quite easy to remedy - provided you didnt actually blow something out electronically. You didnt clarify if the repair shop actually opened the unit - or just threw a worst case scenario price at you.
Havent you ever had to pull apart a game controller due to the same issues? Granted your in for a bigger task here, but you've at least a 50/50 chance of fixing it yourself.... a warm damp clothe or some cuetips with contact cleaner.... use as little liquid product as possible of course.
I certainly dont want to put you in a position of doing more damage than good.... I just think the odds are on your side with this one.... I've pulled mine apart just to get the dust out of the main screen..

Thanks yammer, I'll definitely take a look at it. My only fear is that some circuit boards may have to be replaced will everything else that isn't working. Thanks for the info though.
