Well that was fast! Forgive me if I assume you were fooling around with the CP1 even while you were telling the RD700GX she was the only one for you.

vox- yes, especially when layered with the CF it can sound super rich and nice. :D the EP's in the CP is actually very good.
i like the tines '75. it's like in-between my nord's Mark1 and Mark5 sound. the key-off noise, etc that is editable make it sound very authentic. :) i think if you're a EP player the CP1's got it right. but the one thing missing is a nice overdrive. the nord has a sweet gain drive already built-in and it actually sounds like a real overdrive to the point it's a distortion. the CP1's overdrive (unless im doing this all wrong) sounds weak and just a little fuzzy like a half-arsed overdrive. i'll experiment more later today.
as for the piano's i can get some rich nice sound. it took quite a bit of EQ'ing though. also the sympathetic string resonance is only active while you use the damper pedal on the CP so that was kind of a let down for me from a sound programmer side of things. like hold down a chord without damper pedal and you strike an adjacent key you should be able to hear the chord's string get excited and ring until you let off the keys. the CP1 doesnt resonate like that. it has editable super-rich string resonance simulation while your damper pedal is pressed so i suppose it doesn't matter that much while you're playing but these little things kind of change the ambiance of the sound and authenticity of the piano's.
and i still crack up each time i turn the hammer dial.. why yamaha named that a hammer setting vs tonal control i will never understand. hahaha
as far as being a "piano" the VPiano is still a HUGE STEP ahead of the CP1.

still enjoying the VPiano just like before although in the other room. :) actually it's in a larger open space now and the VP sounds good with no reverb. i think my music room is a tad too 'dead' due to the sound reflection pyramids i have on the walls.

wife's loving my VPiano. she's coming from decades playing yamaha uprights and she says the action and dynamic response of the VPiano is so true that she doesn't feel she is playing a digital instrument. :p
and not having to have to call the tuner is also a huge plus!!! man this time of year with humid warm air it can screw up tuning so badly... but not the VPiano! hahaha.

played all sorts of digital piano's yesterday at the music store...spent a good 2hrs or so. none of them had the dynamics of the VPiano...although some of the pianos sounded pretty good. the new Modus H01/H11 was a joke. the hell is that IKEA looking apparatus? LOL! the speakers sounded like a boombox and the overall piano's sounded unimpressive. definitely for a non-pianist girl wanting to decorate her candy room.

haven't posted much lately in this thread. im still here, still enjoying the VPiano. ive been playing more CP1 lately since it's in my music room and VP in the living room. CP1's doing great, the sounds i made in it are shamelessly fantastic to say the least and very enjoyable to play, especially the tines models (love the '73).
also playing the Nord StageEX as well, more for its synth patches layered with piano's and EP's. very nice alternative sound to play during a quick break while practicing piano.
i hope roland releases more firmware for the VPiano so that at least we can trigger some of the other sounds off its internal 128poly sound engine separate from the virtual strings. :)

so im downloading the files now... i listened to the new demo's and honestly speaking, they all sound nord. it must be the way they sample these pianos...all kinda bright, very boxy sound if you know wat i mean.
so tonight im going to try the new LadyD and the Queen upright and the new EP's. not sure how much room i have left in my nord but i probably need to remove all CP80's. not a fan of that digital grand sound.

yah, been playing the new LadyD off the StageEX triggered from the CP1 (same sample as the Nord Piano88)... i have to say, it's pretty but not that impressed.
main issue i have with nord's piano is that it's kinda all bright, boxy sound, and key-off resonance is too much and they all sound similar. they all have this character. after EQ'ing to my preference i got it to tame down a little bit, but still kinda too bright.
im glad i didnt get the Nord Piano and got the CP1. CP1 is so much smoother sound overall acoustic pianos, especially the EP's.
talking about EP's, i also tried the nord's new tines samples....the Bright and the Vingate67. these aren't too bad, but again, same thing with the key-off resonance. there's just too much especially on the low register.
anyway, no one's really missing out on much from the new updates from nord.

i think i am just going to use my CP1 for all EP's now.
Thanks.
