Roland Clan Forums > JUNO Stage > "Edited Patch or Rhythm Set will be discarded" message

In Performance Mode, when I edit the MFX parameter after tweaking either the Enhancer or Equalizer and try to SAVE IT, I get the message "Edited Patch or Rhythm Set will be discarded. Are you sure". And it doesn't save my changes even if I OK that message. I tried everything, seems like a bizarre situation. Anyone have any idea what's going on? And HOW I can save my changes?
Thanks for any help with this.

well, if you OK the discarding, it does not save - makes sense!

make sure that the MFX belongs with the performance and not with the patch.

Thanks racoon!
I would've never figured out to make sure that little box had "Performance" selected in it. However, it still seems to be hit and miss for me. Sometimes the changes I make are saved and sometimes not. Obviously, I'm missing something. Sometimes the message "Edited Patch or Rhythm Set will be discarded. Are you sure" comes up when I try to save my edit, sometimes it doesn't. I don't understand why! I'm editing a PERFORMANCE (or, at least, trying to)! When I get that message, whether I choose "yes" or "No" the saving process ends. This is very complicated - at least for me. I've spent numerous hours playing with it and I won't give up til I master it. I have a lot of respect for anyone who is adept at dealing with all the various complicated details of this keyboard.
Thanks again for the illustration and the help.

SonnyDaye,

i forgot to mention that the chorus and reverb boxes downstream should also say "prf"

if they say something else, that's ok, too, but when you are changing their parameters, you are modifying the patch they came with.

a performance contains references to patches, not the patches themselves. when you select a performance, it simply calls up existing patches and samples that are stored all over the memory. if you modify a patch, what you have now is a brand new patch. it needs to be saved for future use.

for example, if i create a performance that calls up "juno-stage grand", then, every time i select that performance, it will call up "juno-stage grand" - amazing, right?!
what if i edit the "juno-stage grand" within my performance and add another voice (strings or something). i must save it as a new patch. otherwise, remember, the next time i select this performance, it will call up the original "juno-stage grand" and my strings are gone.

i hate typing...
