You can place 399 songs & Playlists on one SonicCell Playlist Editor library
I have a question;
Q: Can I have more than one Library on a thumb drive?

I'm a working musician with over a thousand songs in my repertoire, I've already transferred 399 songs on to my 8 GB thumb drive, which took up only 1.8 GB, leaving 7.4 GB available. If it's possible, I would like to put another Library, (Library 2,3,4.....) on the drive, and then be able to access it through SonicCell

I recall that this is a definate No. So you will need to buy some additional drives.

How about multi-track audio, can it suport that along with MIDI?

I did some playing around with the thumb drive and SonicCell and found that if you drop an mp3 into the root directory, (USB Memory), you can place as many songs as you like, but they cannot be in folders, so I figure out a way, First you have to rename the mp3, say normally I place all of my files in folders that correspond to sheet music in books that I use, so say book 25, song number 3 could be 1253My Way.mp3 or some such marking, I will try to see if I can put 1-25-3 My Way, if I can read it I'm good to go.

Shampen I think that basically you can have 399 songs & 399 playlists, with each playlist referencing 1 or more songs of the same "batch" and that only one such repitiore is allowed, so no folders.

With no file manipulation, In fact you could have more than one library, but the max number of different songs will be 399 still, irrespective of the number of songs contained in each Playlist.

Example:
Playlist Library: 399 songs
Playlist1: 102 songs
Playlist2: 152 songs
Playlist3: 35 songs
Playlist4: 210 songs
Playlist5: 45 songs
Playlist6: 87 songs

The "total" of songs is 631 (if you add all the Playlists), but the max number of different songs is still 399.

However... manipulating the file soniccell.scp, i,e, creating several Soniccell.scp files, each one with it's own Library, you are only limited by the thumb drive capacity, and not by the SonicCell Playlist Editor limitation of 399 songs.

The only problem with that, is that you still need a computer and a small program that chooses the soniccell.scp file you want for the next Playlist load.

I've tested this and works perfectly !!!

EDITED: But I strongly recommend that you use the minimum amount of songs on each (on a GIG basis, for example).

I have built a small batch file that allows us to have up to 8 x Playlist Library banks, each one with up to 399 Songs and 399 Playlists, which means 3192 Different Songs managed by the Roland Playlist Editor, and all that in one single Thumb Key.

Are you interested in testing it ?

So you are saying that the SC can choose these playlists on its own-?

Unfortunately no. Not the SC itself.
EDITED: Let me be clear on this... The SC can in fact EDIT Playlists on it's own, but only the Playlists, not the Libraries. It only supports one library at a time, containing up to 399 different Songs (MP3, WAV, SMF, AIFF).

You still need a PC for the trick ;-)

What I did is a tool that manipulates 8 banks of Playlist Libraries so the limitiation of 399 songs has passed to 3192 (8x399).

Provided you have the latest SonicCell system (1.20), you can have:

- up to 99 SONGS/MIDI Files in the Root Directory
- UP to 399 Playlist Libraries containing up to 399 SONGS/MIDI files in total
