yes, you are right. but i think you can't set it up without a computer. you need that editor. in other words, you can't just put together a performance right on the keyboard as you can with the juno-g. there is a difference.
still, a very capable board, this juno-di.

No.., you can set up a 16 part performance using the keyboard only. What I think confuses a lot of people is how Roland set up the Di. You do have access to a 16 part performance mode on the synth and you can edit the set up from the synth.
What Roland did was include the "Performance Mode" as part of the category section on the Di. They did this because the performance mode is now being used to handle split and dual patches. On the previous model the "Perform" button was under the Mode Section and all dual and split patches were handled in patch mode.
If you want to create a 16 part set up on the Di directly from the synth without having to use the editor you just select the Seq Temp. You then curser down to PART and you have access to all the parts of the performance. You can select your patches for each part ect.., and then save that to memory.

i stand corrected. i was sure you must have a computer to set it up because of this statement in the manual:
"“JUNO-Di Editor” lets you use your computer to perform detailed editing
for sounds and other settings that cannot be accessed from the JUNODi’s
front panel."
