Hello Clanspeople
I briefly had access to a G, in fact 2 G's, both of which proved faulty which rather put me off so I got a Motif XS6 which I have just sold.
I am reconsidering getting a new G and was wondering if OS updates have altered the way the sequencer works. I had problems with the phrases, I'm used to writing tracks in a song as a complete linear stream of midi data from start to finish, but the need to use phrases seemed to make this difficult. When I recorded a two bar phrase on the Motif then I copied it the necessary number of times so if I wanted to add a break at bar 16, the data was already there in bar 16 and could be edited. On the G I believe that a two bar phrase copied 7 times would be the original two bars plus 7 phrase call-ups so I would need to record a new phrase to insert at bar 15, The workflow will obviously be similar but instead of just updating the same track, you are using up a finite number of phrases and cluttering up the phrase list. Is it possible to copy or append a phrase in such a way that it could be used as the whole of one track of the song?
Any info or workarounds would be much appreciated.

The thing is, even if you do not like the concept of phrases that you drag/copy around to arrange your song, you CAN in fact work in linear mode, treating one phrase as one track. To do this, you'd simply use the macro or micro editor to copy data within the phrase, or record what you play right in phrase mode.
Also, there was OS 1.30 released a few months ago and it cleaned up the sequencer a bit. And I can report that I experience no issues with it, nothing that interrupts my work at all.
