Re: NAMM 2013 Rumours - new Roland Workstation?

Studio capture looks great and would be a worthy addition to my studio, depending on two factors: STABLE low latency drivers and... REASONABLE price It's going to need some serious testing/reviewing before anyone's going to try it, I think. If it's going up against RME et al, it's going to need to b...

Re: Guitar on Jupiter 80

I've come up against this a few times - the idea that you cannot get a realistic-sounding guitar performance out of a synthesizer... And it all comes down to what sort of a performance you're looking to capture, what sort of guitar sound you're hoping to achieve, the 'source' sound (i.e. what you're...

Re: New keyboard from Roland???

Since I got out of the purely hardware game, I've been having a great time. I still use Roland hardware (an A80 is my main board in my studio, an A500 rests on top of my UF-70), but outside of that I've got no use for a workstation. Everything I could get from a hardware solution is available to me ...

Re: I modulated too hard... :(

An update! I contacted Roland UK for a replacement. It took about two and half weeks to be delivered and it arrived this morning. After I identified the part number with the help of a Roland engineer and the AX-09 service manual, his colleague informed me that they had received a sufficient amount o...

Guess what? Me too. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/17/20110629233904487.jpg/ And... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/801/20110629233911614.jpg/ I was having the same problem as others in this thread - the mod bar was sticking towards one corner. I've set up Electri6ity to do palm mutes on ...

Re: Behavior Modeling Explained -

Jan_nl, from what Vince is saying it seems like the behaviour modelling is similar to that which can be achieved with, for example, heavy scripting in Kontakt. I think there's two types of modelling in the Jupiter 80 - actual instrument modelling with algorithms calculating the sound, and behaviour ...

Re: Behavior Modeling Explained -

Thanks Vince. Those of us who've worked in the world of software instruments have had access to similar technologies for a while now, and let me tell you - it makes a huge difference. We're getting to the point where what makes a difference is not the size of a sample library (as you're probably awa...

Re: Official Roland Jupiter 80 Info Up

But you get the option. You can use the Kronos as a live performance synth in much the same way as the Jupiter (layer sounds etc.), plus it has a sequencer and sampling capability along with suitably deep instrument editing and synthesis options like the Jupiter (it's actually got three VA instrumen...

Re: Official Roland Jupiter 80 Info Up

I think Korg have genuinely changed the game (to borrow their phrase...) to a certain extent because with the Kronos, they've essentially trampled all over their other keyboards in an effort to provide those who are willing to pay with everything they can offer. Each of the 9 engines in the Kronos c...

Re: Keyboard magazine leak

I agree that dropping the sequencer was a good idea, nobody I can think of uses a sequencer in their workstation these days for anything other than sketching out ideas, especially if they have a dedicated version available in the studio. I certainly didn't. I'm looking for the positives from the bar...

Re: Keyboard magazine leak

Thanks for the info Artemiy. If the Jupiter 80 has SH-01 capability on board, I would like to see Roland produce a programming module (like a PG-300) to sit on that empty space on the right, so that full tactile control of all parameters is possible. I'm sure some of the controls will be available o...

Re: Keyboard magazine leak

It appears to be, based on the available information, an overpriced (compared to the Kronos) version of the Fantom G without the sequencer and with better sounds. I am praying for Roland's sake that this has some DEEP synthesis capabilities and that there's the option to expand the control interface...

Have to admit, I'm throwing a few admiring glances over to the VR-700. Maybe it's just because it's new, but I can see space for it in my rig. Possibly in place of something else...

Re: How are the pads of the Fantom G

<t>They are very stiff - you'll find that if you're doing some rhythm programming, sounds assigned to pads may not trigger unless you really hammer them. This makes their velocity sensitivity, and after touch capability, all but useless. I've also lost count of the amount of times that they simply h...
