Re: SH-201 or JP-8000
BTW, the retrigger function of the SH is just great to create a fourth envelope, especially of parameters that are not available to be controlled by the ENV (e.g. PWM). What is this "retrigger" function? I'm not familiar with it (and I thought I knew my way around the 201 pretty well ;)) D7

Re: Considering picking up the SH-201 TODAY.. question-
<t>I spent a half hour last night working on an 808 kick from memory (didn't have time to find a sample). I think I got close and I think I could come close to nailing it if I had an 808 sample to compare to while I worked.<br/> <br/> Anyway, the trick to emulating the 808 kick is to pretty much ign...

Re: SH-201 Editor Plug in Pro Tools 7?
I seem to remember reading that you may have to move the plug-in files to a location where the host app will find them. I think its described in the HTML manual that came with the software....

Re: SH 201 Patches: Questions for users
<t>I would buy a bank of 32 patches minimum. Any less I probably wouldn't consider worth my time. But I would prefer to buy in larger quantities. 4x32 seems pretty ideal.<br/> <br/> I'd prefer complete sound banks because I will use the the librarian to rearrange things anyway, and its easy to audit...

Re: Those Damn Non-Synth Sounds
<t>The editor/librarian just gives you a way to edit and organize patches, it doesn't change the sound capabilities of the instrument. So you're only going to be able to approximate real-life instruments. Sometimes it'll be good enough; most of the time it won't. On the flip-side, sample-based instr...

Re: SH 201 vs ES1
Another cool thing is that all the knobs and sliders output MIDI CC, so the 201 could be put to work as a control surface in Logic and for other soft synths and effects as well...

Re: Organ Patches
Thanks for the pointer! I wish I was more familiar with the type of organ sounds you're looking for, I'd try to create one (I'm having a blast doing those types of things with the 201). Good luck!

Re: Save A Prayer "horn" patch
<t>For both of those sounds, there are some presets on the 201 that are somewhat in the ballpark (can't recall the numbers, sorry). Find them, then twiddle with the amp envelope to get the attack right, and the filter cutoff/freq and filter envelope to zero in on the timbre. I seem to remember the l...

Re: Organ Patches
<t>I can't help you unfortunately, but if you could share whatever you find I would sure appreciate it. I'd like to create a "Won't Get Fooled Again" patch on the 201 and would like a decent organ sound as the starting point and run it thru the 201's filter (Townshend used a Lowry organ thru an EMS ...
