Re: Resampling with X8 sucks?

It's actually a favorite topic of mine because I had the same frustration. So there are two things going on - 1) De-emphasis and, as you mentioned, 2) Volume The second is a somewhat more complex problem if you are addressing it in the board alone. It took me a while to become comfortable with this ...

Re: Resampling with X8 sucks?

The trick is to convert it to mp3 in cubase. Yes, that always works! /snark The problem with resampling on the X, G, Juno-G isn't so much that it sucks, but you have to understand what is happening and the signal flow behind it. The real problem starts when you resample, resamples. There are longer...

Re: External Sequencing ???

Yes, the sequencer will transmit MIDI via cable or USB. In your DAW or sound module set up the channels accordingly and you'll be good.

Re: new to Roland G is software needed ?

Yes, the Editor and Librarian, respectively. You can download them here: http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=756 Enjoy. ps. It's really almost easier to program everything on the Juno itself, read the manual and learn the Pro Edit screens by heart and you're good to go. Of ...

Re: Librarian - device not set up correctly... really?

Did you check to make sure you are in USB/MIDI mode? I've forgotten to switch it back in the past. If you have your DAW online and Juno MIDI is getting through, the librarian should also work the same. In the case neither librarian or DAW/midi work, you might try to reinstall the drivers and start h...

Re: Hoe to control fx parameter with knobs or sliders

Controllers are a weak point on the Juno-G (read:price saving). Essentially, you have only your left hand for all that - via pitch bend, modulation, and/or the D-Beam. I would have loved it if the four rotary controllers had an assignable CC mode, but alas this was the affordable version of the Fant...

Re: Progression

It's a natural progression. Juno-G -> Fantom X The FG is it's own little demon, if you read the forum, many would rather have their X. Two selling points of X over Juno, IMO. 1) Balanced/Digital Outs 2) Multisampled Piano (instruments) 3) 73/88 keys ftw Soundwise, as others said, I'm also not sure t...

Re: pre-emphasis clipping

Did you mean disable the de-emphasis thing?

It's part of the signal path in the Fantom. When you resample and play the sample back on the board, you are going through the de-emphasis filter twice - result dull, dreary sound.

You're correct in that adding pre-emphasis ends up overcompensating a bit.

Re: Why repair G instead of buying new M50?

Considering the Juno-G is very difficult to use without an LCD, if you don't repair it then you would be out more like $800-1000; unless you could find someone to buy it. If you look at it that way, it'd almost be like you spent $2000 on a 61-key M50. You'd already have the Juno-G expansion pack, bu...

Re: Serial No's and LCD issues.

With your serial number you can decode the mfg. date from the first three characters and the # in the batch from the remaining digits. There's a post around here somewhere, but post your # and we'll see when yours was made. It could be from the bad batches and been sitting on a shelf. You could also...

Re: question about sending tracks from fantom to get mastere

Better yet, let the mastering house do that for you. It's just a gain change, right, but technically anytime you alter the file you will introduce quantization errors due to bit-truncation as the signal is recalculated mathematically. The problem gets worse, rather becomes more noticeable, in the 16...

Re: question about sending tracks from fantom to get mastere

I think you have to read in between the lines -- what they don't want is a smashed clipping mess. If you deliver that, there is not much they can do. Removing the master compressor isn't so much about lowering the volume as it is about maintaining the dynamics. If you understand the difference, you ...

Re: LCD SOLUTIONS

Patrik, apologies, but it sounds like you are confusing the contrast adjustment with a properly *&(#(@ screen failure. The LCD is backlit orange and as such may need some adjustment to make it right in your environment(ie: minimizing artifacts while maximizing contrast). It's an inconvenience, i...

I just deleted Reaper trial not too long ago. I wouldn't doubt that it could be possible to import different files.

Let us know, maybe in a new thread. :)
