cutoff problem
I don't know if any one still comes to this forum but I'll ask anyway. My SH-201 (that was bought brand new 4 years ago but hardly ever used) has been having this weird problem for a while now. Almost every time I turn the "cutoff" knob either way, instead of it only making the sound 'brig...

Re: Pimping my SH-201
I don't think the SH-201 is "one of the worst looking synths ever made". On the contrary, I find the synth very attractive -especially when looked at from the back- and I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. I couldn't get enough of looking at it online. I actually like the looks of t...
Re: 201 sound
<t>Thanks for the reply, man. I really appreciate that you actually asked the guy from Milk Inc. So, does that mean it wasn't the SH-201 ? I know the SH and the JP 8000 share some sounds but I was wondering how that effect -if it is an effect or whatever it's called- is made. The only way I can do i...
201 sound
<r>In Milk Inc's song "Forever" the SH-201 is seen being used in the video -I know that video is just a video clip and not the actual recording- but I'm assuming the SH-201 was actually used in making the song. Anyway, I'd like to know how the beat (tune) starting at 0:33, 2:25 is made. Do you think...

Re: The Circuit Symphony SH-201 Custom Bank Videos
<t>Man, those are some really nice patches you have. I like that fat bass at 3:00.It puts even some real analog synths to shame. Nice 80's sounds too. I watched all 4 videos and I must say you're good at making patches. Your clips show what this synth can do.Unfortunately, many people trash this syn...

Re: How satisfied are you with the SH-201?
Thank you guys for answering my question. While I know other similarily priced synths have some sounds that this synth lack, the fact that some of the most famous bands and artists use this synth proves it is a worthy one.

How satisfied are you with the SH-201?
<t>Just curious to know if you guys are happy with this synth and its sounds. I go on Youtube often to see what other synths sound like and I see a lot of praise for synths like the Novation X-station, MicroKorg/XL, Korg r3, and even the Alesis Micron -which really looks like a toy- while I see a lo...

Re: My Roland SH-201 Talking
Those are some interesting sounds. They do sound like distorted human voices, though the first one is scary.

sounds from scratch
<t>It's been quiet here but I'm hoping someone will answer my question. <br/> I am new to synths and I'm slowly figuring out how to use the SH but in the manual ( very bottom of page 27) it says you can create sounds "from scratch" from the end of preset group bank D. I have no idea how you go about...

Re: Comparing the SH to others
<t>Alright. Thank you guys for the info. I think for now I'm going to stick to my SH-201. I see that the Novation has more patches and more Trancy sounds but I like the looks of the SH better. Looks do matter to me because part of the love I have for synthesizers is purely based on looks. And with t...

Re: Comparing the SH to others
<t>Thanks all for the replies. I was tempted to buy a Novation X-49 but I'm trying to resist. I was looking at one at Tom Lee Music but I didn't like the build quality. Feels really cheap compared to the SH. I didn't get to check the sounds though 'cause it wasn't hooked up. Only a couple of videos ...

Re: Comparing the SH to others
<t>Thanks for the reply, zyl. I find that X-station tempting too. But it's nice to have something simple like the SH. I think it's worth keeping just for that.<br/> Yeah I know. That Virus synth is crazy. But it's like four times the price of an SH-201. I'll just stick with soft synth until the Viru...

Comparing the SH to others
<t>Just out of curiosity, I've been looking at other synthesizers lately and I'm interested in two in particular, the Korg Radias and Novation x-Station 49 and I'm wondering how those two compare to the SH-201 (sounds wise) Any body have those synths ? Would you give up your SH for either ?? Thanks....

Re: 400 New Official Patches for the SH-201
No way ! So that means we'll have 400 more sounds to use with our SH-201? That's so cool.
