Re: Roadmap of updates needed
I completely doubt that Roland will provide any roadmap at all.. the reality is that there is zero advantage for them to do this... accusations of false promise cause more problems than silence (ask Elektron about Overbridge). IF Fantom does not meet your needs, then it is simpler to clearly and suc...

Fantom w ext gear
When a zone is set to external and controlling an external instrument, is it possible for the control knobs 1-8 to be assigned to specific midi CC such that cutoff/resonance/whatever can be controlled from the Fantom?..
thanks

Re: Have I got this right?
Well, FG clearly could only directly access 32 midi channels, vs the Fantom 16 .. the high track count allowed the user to use the phrase structure (modern day parlance would be "clips") to reuse those 32 channels .. as obviously you cant access 100+ midi ch :) Over the years I totally got...

Re: Comments on action - Fantom 6 and 7
how is the keybed of the F7 for piano playing.. did you feel you got enough expression out of it? thx I did a quick test with just the factory settings. All I can say is that the initial piano on the RD2000 sounds fabulous, and when I tried some V Pianos in the Fantom 7 (which may not have been the ...

Re: Piano roll
this is a shame. The microscope editor was a staple for the workstation sequencer.. and I too read "piano roll editor" as the same capabilities as (say) the microscope editor on the Fantom G. I was hoping that the new Fantom would be a significant step up for me.. I have the Fantom G6 + In...

Re: Export Fantom G8 sounds for use with software interface
Be wary about cantabile.. i have seen a lot of negative reviews and the developer seemed to have abandoned development when i last looked.. and the answer is to sample your sounds.. the sound library itself is non existent.. the rom only contains compressed versions of the pcm waves, and your sounds...

Re: The fantom and integra 7
The integra 7 is a 16 part synth and supports 16 channels.. This does not mean that each part must be on a different channel, so just like how in the fantom you can create splits and layers from the keyboard, you can do the same on the integra 7 and so have several parts responding to one midi chann...

Re: Thinking of getting a G... some technical questions
No, it can't directly...(octave shift) But that does not mean it cannot be done.. A. Program an rps Phrase to send the data to the synth and put it onto a pad, or B. Put it into the sequencer at the beginning of the song It's a trivial negative vs what it can do for external instruments imo, and muc...

need to check the manual, and particularly the Midi Implementation part (usually separate from the main manual)

Re: What 's the future for the Fantom G ?
Although the basic soundset of the FA is impressive, you need to take a long hard look at the feature set in the manual. Some things that you may consider would be "obviously included" since they are on the X and G, such as the ability to control external parts, is simply missing. You also...

Re: New Roland Synthesizer Workstation Coming at Namm 2014
I am content with my Fantom and long since learned to live with what it can do rather than lament what it cannot. My comment above was simply a contrary, practical comparison to the hype for Maschine in the earlier two posts. Its just not that capable...and pretty much anyone who has a hardware synt...

Re: Unable to connect 808 and sw editor
I think Dr Boehm is unfortunately long ago moved on.
You alternative is to try to connect the MC808 via 5-pin din midi, and leave the system settings as USB-storage.. in the editor of course you setup the correct midi connections
