Are you talking about effects other than the 8 reverb and 8 delay that are listed in the maunal?

These two devices work wonderfully together. I really treasure both units. Hopefuly more videos will pop up with people showing how they make there patches. I plan to create a few myself. Please let us know whether the functions that it has all work? For example in the original Vsynth you can't get it to work properly as a multi part instrument. It has the page where you can assign midi parts but it doesn't work. Does the XT have this capability? I remember seeing an XT for sale $500...

Akai MPC 4000...Yamaha AN200, Yamaha DX200 and a moog pedal. (or replace any of the latter three with a DR880). This should just about cover you and be under or at $1000.
