Re: Thinking of getting a G... some technical questions
Yes, it's a silly oversight, but it can be programmed in using the Fantom G Editor, just not on the machine itself.

Re: Import samples.
You're dead right, the Fantom can't take an MP3. Samples must be 16 bit/44.1 khz mono or stereo wav files (not sure if it takes aiffs, I don't think it does).

Re: Is there going to be a new Fantom or other flagship keyb
It's turned out to be a great workhorse for me, live machine, midi controller, composition tool, alongside my other synths and DAW. I find getting into sampling and RPS, programming of realtime control really busts it wide open as a live performance machine. It's quite deep. I don't think there's an...

Re: User patches, live sets and sequencing
Yes that's a great feature, but only if you are in song mode right? If you are working in the other modes or just on a studio set by itself, you need to save, right?

Re: Just got Fantom G
The sound engine on the fantom is deeply editable and if you dive in its possible to make some great sounds. IMHO the factory presets are a bit average, though if you dig in there is some great patches to be found in there. Sampling also opens up the machine a lot. The only area of sounds I've found...

Re: User patches, live sets and sequencing
Putte, this sounds like something strange has happened. If you have saved your own patches in the user bank they should always be there no matter what mode you are working in. If you ever see red tick next to any name of a patch, live set or studio set, be sure to save it, otherwise changes can be l...

Re: Is $2000 too much?
I've just found a whole bunch of great preset patches around the 1449 mark that I must have glossed over somehow. Really good. The only weak sound category for me is the organs. I've also noticed if you load your own samples, the patches made with them sound really good. Just shows how good the soun...

Re: Is $2000 too much?
The longer I have the G the more I appreciate it. Just been diving back into, sounds better than I thought it did last time I used it. If the user delves in, it can do a lot of stuff.

Re: Loading projects
Sorry I don't run windows, so can't help with that, but you could check Rolands support documents to see if there is a version of the librarian specific to your version of windows.

Re: Loading projects
You can only open 1 project at a time. If they are just patches you want to copy you can copy them between projects using the Fantom Librarian. If they are patches using mulitsamples it's much harder. You can copy the patches between projects and Import the samples from one project to another, but y...

Re: Liveset list ordering
Use Rolands Fantom Librarian, you can move live sets/patches/studio sets around in that. Or you can use Favourites mode on the fantom itself to make groups of live sets you'd like to recall easily.

Yep. Amazing. I can't believe they have done that. What possible reason can there be for not having a complete MIDI spec? Crazy.

Quinxx if you are talking the Fantom Creator, I hope you are right. I just downloaded the demo, looks like they really are going to do this. Been talked about for years.
