of course there are units that does the trick , they are called Midi Mergers .. check out http://www.midisolutions.com/prodqmr.htm
im not sure about your setup but it sounds like using your midi thru connections could also help in achieving what you want

<t>you are right about the fact that they should supply you with those features , especially when its a common thing like correct notation and duration of notes ..and btw, yes , my copy of SX does display the notation correctly ..also, it could be that your problem has to do with a videocardproblem ...

i have no experience with Cubasis since i use SX but how about working in sixteens to make the notation perhaps easier and then double the tempo ?
