Re: GAIA tool
Last week I released a new version, 0.4. What’s new: SVD file format support in library. Startup time improvement for large libraries. Get it here: http://www.grauw.nl/projects/gaia-tool/ In case you’re interested, I now maintain a public feature and bug list here . Feel free to look through it if y...

Re: New Gaia... Weird Oscillators!
I don’t really get why you would say the SH-01 does not fit under the VA nomer, or that Roland is supposedly using it as a marketing term only and thus not being truthful to its customers. A VA is more than just an oscillator, what matters is that the sounds are composed in a way mimicking an analog...

Re: GAIA turns off the sound of the computer
One of the Gaia’s features is that it has a built-in sound card, and sounds like the Mac starts to output the sound through the Gaia once it’s turned on. I don’t have a Mac to look it up here at home, but you should be able to select in the system preferences which output it should use. Try turning ...

Re: Is the arpegiator progamable?
Hey geerhoar, thanks for showing the way :). It should work fine on Mac OS X, one of the screenshots is taken on it, the project page has some special instructions you need to follow though. I’m not really sure why you say to document the preset patterns? You can’t overwrite them, just select the pr...

Re: i-pod input
It’s a regular line input that’s mixed into the output sound, so yeah I don’t think that would be a problem.
Re: GAIA tool
Just released version 0.3.1, which fixes a couple of bugs. See the release notes for details.

Re: gaia versus ultranova
Roland’s editor may cost an arm and a leg, but the Gaia tool is free :). It probably doesn’t compare to the Nova software, but it adds some things you can’t do from the Gaia’s front panel. It has arpeggio editing and also a library function.
Re: GAIA tool
I released a new version, 0.3. What’s new:
- Patch library to organize your patches!
- Much improved synchronization. No control change should be missed now.
- Improved Mac OS X integration.
- Tabs in the patch view.
- Windows and Mac OS X binaries.
Re: GM Bank
No it’s not limited like that, there is 1 GAIA synth channel and 15 GM MIDI channels.
Re: GM Bank
Yup, anything you play on the non-synth MIDI channel will be played as GM, basically a totally independent standard GM module.

Re: can you synth a piano sounds on this baby?
Electric piano sounds are possible but I haven’t heard something like a real piano so far. Eight PCM sounds are accessible from the front panel (organ, violin, brass, etc.), but piano isn’t one of them.

Re: Gaia Sound Designer Software
Ah nice quote you found there, I was already hoping that the release of the sound designer would be followed by a firmware update… Maybe that was the cause of the delays? Anyway I hope that there will indeed be a firmware update, there’s a thing or two, or five, that they could fix :).

Re: Gaia Sound Designer Software
From what I heard from different people who contacted Roland, Roland’s editor should be released sometime this month, but who knows. If you don’t mind a somewhat more basic UI you could try my free GAIA tool , I plan to release a new version relatively soon that should sync all controls properly (th...
