Re: Fantom 7 Frozen White Logo Screen

Final update: The tech did not register the new main board to my serial number or model of keyboard. He sent me a pdf of the pages from the service manual on how to do it myself. I'm able to load expansions and models now but my BU was still corrupted trying to load it the first time. I've done a fe...

Re: Old software versions for Fantom

Thanks for your reply! The problem was not incorrect license, but the synth serial number was not registered in the main board so no license would work. But they fixed it quickly and returned the synth so now everything is fine :-) So I just got my Fantom 7 back from having a new main board install...

Keeps saying “incorrect file”. R...

Re: Fantom 7 Frozen White Logo Screen

UPDATE: So my fantom is repaired and I'll be picking it up today. It cost me a total of $67.50 in labor since Roland decided to pay for the part. It was the main board that failed, and for no reason that the repair tech could see, he thought it was likely a poorly made PCB that shorted out the memor...

Re: Fantom 7 Frozen White Logo Screen

I purchased mine from Musician’s Friend Sept 2019. There was not a 5 year warranty for registering. They claim it was only 1 year. Roland got with the repair tech and contacted me to let me know the most they can do is discount the part from $1360 to $905. Ugh. I guess they just don’t care. Sad for ...

Re: Fantom 7 Frozen White Logo Screen

So the repair center called Friday to tell me that the part for the main board, which he believes is the problem, is $1366 plus shipping, along with 1.5 hours of work at $65/hr. This is going to cost me dearly!! I'm so sad, because I have to do it, it's my main keyboard for my studio/life!

Re: Fantom 7 Frozen White Logo Screen

Well, still no response from Roland at all about helping with this expensive (potentially) repair for a keyboard that is in practically new condition after only 3 years it shouldn’t be failing.

Ironically, I use my 35 years old DX7 as a reliable backup when synths fail 😄
Yup, directly above my Fantom is my D50, Alpha Juno 2, Ensoniq ESQ, Yamaha DX11, Yamaha DX7IID and Casio CZ-1000... all working just fine! ugh.

Re: Fantom 7 Frozen White Logo Screen

Agreed! and hope that is what I hear today! I bought it as they announced it in 2019 and waited until stock hit Musician's Friend. Paid full price and never regretted it — heck, I was even just boasting about it the other day, how it's not a keyboard but a platform. But it's still hardware and it wi...

Re: Fantom 7 Frozen White Logo Screen

No USB stick installed except when loading new firmware. Roland responded to use “SHIFT EXIT ENTER” and if that didn’t do anything to reinstall the last firmware update. That didn’t work either, sadly. It’s just stuck on the white Roland logo screen. :( Thanks for responding.

Fantom 7 Frozen White Logo Screen

I bought my Fantom 7 in Sept 2019 and have had NO issues until today. I was jus playing it with V3.01 firmware 2 days ago just fine. And today, upon startup, it freezes at the white Roland logo screen when the knobs turn blue. I was able to boot it up with the update v3.01 and it worked through norm...

Re: Just made my purchase Fantom 7!

Chrisk - I got the 7 because i've always had 76 key keyboards and it's my favorite span/range, but I kind wondered if I'd had done better getting the 61 of this since it's the same new synth weight design. Smaller footprint. Hard to know. I wish I had a store I could actually have tried this at but ...

Just made my purchase Fantom 7!

I can't believe I just spent that much money on a new roland product!! I loved my Jupiter 80 but it had so many issues and limitations and I love my Juno Stage except Roland abandoned us on it. So I hope buying their flagship workstation comes with many years of support and a great intuitive product.

Re: Should I buy a Jupiter 80 in 2017?

I loved my Jupiter 80, I miss it but... it had so many issues that I just couldn't over look. Too hard to program, cumbersome MIDI controller implementation, HEAVY, no ability to create arpeggios or patterns built in. I ended up keeping my Juno Stage, same lovely key bed, but it has all of the above...
