PC ... No ... Tablet ... Why not? It's just a form factor but two simple things make it elegant ... It can lay flat so it can practically be invisible if you'd like ... And no need for a clumsy secondary controller like mouse or touchpad ...
Tablets + supplemental controllers are the future ...

Re: When will ROLAND release their next Workstation ?
imho, ROLAND has their wires crossed ! They are badly in need of introducing a new workstation to compete with the other two major workstations on the market (Motif XF and Kronos), before releasing some fancy, bulky, ugly, expensive, and badly named performance based keyboard synth. I'm guessing th...

Re: When will ROLAND release their next Workstation ?
if Roland is going to release a workstation version of Jupiter-80 sound engine it's going to have to wait until sales cool ... (Or there's going to be a lot of Jupiter-80 owners bitching about how there's a new, "better" Jupiter available for about the same price ... ) Otherwise, this new ...

Re: The Fantom G and people moaning about it
There is absolutely no real "workstation" equivalent in the controller+DAW world ... The wide variety of quality sounds, relative ease of use, stability and all-in-oneness has yet to even be attempted yet ... (Sure you can do some of this with current "solutions," but in this cas...

Re: Upgrading Xa to X
Pretty sure you can do all you want with Fantom Librarian ... But keep in mind some of the Fantom Xa patches are unique to it ... Although I'm not sure if it actually has any unique waveforms ... It's definitely worth the migration, though ... I had an Xa for about a week before I switched to X7 ...

Re: The Fantom G and people moaning about it
i understand fully diametro. its my business. roland brought an of the shelf product that is produced in tens of millions so it costs next nothing to buy. the screen in the g would cost less than the one in the x due to the massive volumes produced and technological advances. the software to drive ...

Re: The Fantom G and people moaning about it
You don't understand ... It doesn't work the same way in the musical instrument industry where the volumes are much, much smaller ... Its not a consumer item sold in the tens or hundreds of thousands ... Why do you think Apple is so dominant .... VOLUME ... We're talking millions here ... Not maybe ...

Yep ... Its on the touchscreen but still the same ... What you lose is the twin D-Beams ... But if you really need that too you can get an Alesis Air F/X ...

Re: The Fantom G and people moaning about it
You can't make comparisions between MI component prices and consumer laptops ... apples and onions ... Even small things can have a big impact on the final price you pay ... The LCD is probably one of the most expensive "decisions" they made re: Fan-G ... and the uncompetitive price of Fan...

Re: Fantom Vocoder?
I bought my V-Synth Xt for $650 ... I know that's super low but not more more than $1k if that ... You don't see XTs for sale so much ... or at least I don't see them ... Great box, though ... Perfect companion to a Fantom-X ...

Re: All you lot here on Roland clan are a bunch of moany git
So what is positive about the Fantom G ? Better stock soundset ... Neat pitch bender enhancements ... Live switching ... That big bloody screen ... SLIDERS !!! Phatom powered XLR input Better sampling fidelity ... to my ears (less so actual difference in the sound though) Enhanced yet flawed from w...

Re: Fantom Vocoder?
V-Synth XT lol I've never found anything other than maybe the pitch shifter and or some lofi effects that does anything really transformative AND musical for vocals on Fan-X ... Of course you can try, but there are much better sources out there ... The afformentioned V-Synth XT is the best digital v...

Re: The Fantom G and people moaning about it
That is not correct ... Fan-X V2.0 was out quite some time before production ceased ... Fantom-G will NEVER get a 2.0 ... There's no point ... The product is dead from a commercial standpoint ... (Fan-X was still selling well when V2 dropped ... And I didn't buy my X7 until the V2 update as did many...

If you're a sucker for strings I'd say go for it ... That's what six slots are for !!!
One of these days I'd love to get an XR or two ... Just so I can layer patches with 3 mfx each ... !!! Now THAT'S what I want in a workstation ... !!!
