Re: How far is Roland behind, really?

<t>Yeah. I've was waiting for the same as jahrome. I had hopes for a better Fantom-G but I think it may be time to move on. I still have my fantom-x8. It's keybed is beginning to go. <br/> <br/> I really like the concept of the motif xf and how it has grown from the original motif. It has been suppo...

Re: Whats next synth/workstation

<t>Do you guys think The Fantom-G's USB-Audio interface could be updated from stereo to 16 in 16 out? This would help me consider it more for purchase. My Fantom-X8's keybed and buttons are finally starting to age. The Motif XS & XF do this very well via firewire. This is an important workflow i...

Re: Opinions CP1 vs. RD700GX w/SN expansion

<t>I struggled with this decision for months. Waited for the CP1 & CP5's to hit GC and decided on the Korg SV-1 instead of the yamaha CP or the roland RD. TRied the Nord stage but piano was lacking. I miss the mod stick from the roland setup but I'm very happy with the Korg SV. The 2 piano sampl...

Re: Fantom-G micro manual (updated April 2010)

<t>Thanks for your work Art. This booklet is helpful. I'm contemplating buying the G8 to replace my X8. This will help in my decision. <br/> <br/> Also, I love the soft sell of the iMac in the Roland documents. LOL. Interesting that they put iMacs in their booklets but most of their software stuff w...

Re: Why do we need a substitute? The Juno-G is a great instr

<t>Sounds like you guys might be asking for something like a Roland Fantom-Ga. Maybe the compactness of the Juno-G with a portion of the audio features from the G and the sequencer. Kind of the next generation Fantom-Xa. Maybe the comments above fit better in that category.<br/> <br/> I don't have t...

I guess I that makes me unhappy, too. I'm an X user waiting for the new Planet sounds. Guess we will have to wait a little while longer.

Re: William Coakley - Perfect Pianos

<t>You are making a good decision going with Coakley's Volume V. I have used them in various contexts (studio & live) for the last 2 years and I continue to get great feedback on them. There are enough versions of the samples to get you to what you want and William will stay on the phone with yo...

Re: help me with a solutions for XP 80 SVQ

<t>The Fantom X or S (not the current model) use the svq format. You could move all of the svq files to your computer. Then when yo get fantom, format you flash card and then move all svqs to the seq folder in the sng folder. That's what I did when I upgraded from XP-60 to Fantom X6. <br/> <br/> Obv...

Re: Best piano sounds

<r>I use piano samples by William Coakley with my Fantom X8. They have worked well in studio and live. I do believe that piano sound is based on preference but people from different genres of music have asked me in both environments what piano I was using. They felt like it was close to the real thi...

<t>Andrew, also note that while there may be less usable patches on the SRX-05, there is no load time. Plug in once; play to your hearts content.<br/> <br/> The setup for the Planet Sounds requires at least 128 MB internal memory, PC Card, at least 128 MB compact flash card, and patience as it loads...

Re: Cakewalk and G?

<r>I would give Reaper a try. It setup is fairly easy and its environment is very easy to get familiar with it. You can use vst and vsti with it. And yes, it has full midi and audio features. I have been using it with my Fantom-X for that last year and have had minimal to no challenges. <br/> <br/> ...

Re: USB Flash drive.. !@##Fix this Shit Now!!!

It sounds like you didn't upgrade the internal memory.
Did you purchase 256 mb or 512 mb of DIMM RAm and install in your G?
Did you format the USB storage drive before using it?
Have you tried a factory reset?

It does sound a bit strange, though. Let us know.

Can the Sonic Cell or Fantom X engine handle the ARX technology? My guess is it must be on the same at the Fantom G because of that.
