Re: arpeggio from Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf"

That sound is tricky. It was made by PWM, short decay and hard attack on the envelopes and some filtering done to a string/synth sound on the Jupiter 8 arpeggiator set to random mode. This is better. The original synth Jupiter-8 and vocals only. All other instruments removed. You can hear the origi...

Re: arpeggio from Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf"

I have tried with no success. It's the synth that goes on thru this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOg5VxrRTi0&ob=av3e This is better. The original synth Jupiter-8 and vocals only. All other instruments removed. You can hear the original synthesizers very clearly in this remix. http://www...

Korg Volca analog series & MS-20 mini

I was really pleasantly surprised by the MS-20 news previously. But now even more surprised by the Volca analog box news. First Montrons, then Monotribe. Now MS-20 mini is coming. Then next is the Volca Beats, Volca Bass and Volca Keys. Could this be building up to something bigger perhaps? Will the...

Re: The GAIA SH-01 sounds fantastic

<t>ive played it for over a month. i live near roland headquarters in hamamatsu, shizuoka. <br/> i do not intend to buy it regardless of roland's marketing campaign, because i think it is overpriced for what it is. its not bad, its playable and fun, i think its what the sh201 should have been in the...

Re: The GAIA SH-01 sounds fantastic

i have already seen it. it has many functions,
but it is made in China. it has very light weight.
better than sh201, but over priced for cheap construction.
if you already have sh32, jp8080, its not necessary to get it.

Re: Your most wanted new feature?

<t>Why are there dedicated forums for only new products even if they are not popular or have few users, while older products which probably have more users are not even featured and lumped together in the "Other" section where its hard to find what you want. <br/> <br/> For example, there is a speci...

Re: MC-307 blog

<r>ho! i own a MC307 too. <br/> <br/> MC307 and D2 are the two most obscure grooveboxes because they were kind of the result of experimental marketting and design schemes that came in between the 505 and 909 which are more popular grooveboxes. so fewer people own MC307 and D2. <br/> <br/> but i thin...

Re: Where can I lay my hands on an MC-09

<t>i saw one two of those at a recycle shop for about 100 us dollars equivalent. <br/> i didnt bother to get it since i heard its 303 emulation isnt even close.. its just rolands way of capitalizing off its reputation, like what they did with the name "juno" recently. its good as a bass accompanimen...

V-Synth as a DX7 Substitute

<t>Could I get some clarification on the V-Synth's FM Synthesis capabilities? Is it able to emulate a Yamaha DX-7 excellently?? Except for real analog, the V-Synth seems to have covered all the main synthesis methods available for digital synths. <br/> <br/> But I would like to know if its DX-7 emul...

Re: buying a synth

<t>i think you are looking for a small type of analog modeling synth??<br/> <br/> sh 201 is a good synth, but its not small.<br/> current small-size analog modeling synths are: micron, r3, microkorg, microkorg-xl, and xiosynth.<br/> <br/> micron and old microkorg have no usb so inconvenient.<br/> ol...

<r>Dont forget to check MC307 and D2. these are both based on the MC505.<br/> <br/> basic difference from 505:<br/> 307 is lighter, more portable, has turntable slider, LCD display, newer sounds. <br/> D2 is lighter, more portable, newer sounds, interface like KaossPad, interesting workflow.<br/> <b...

Re: using the Fantom x for making beats

<t>fantom x is more than enough to make beats. if you know about the history of house, hiphop and techno music, then you will realize that you have far more than you ever need just with one fantom x. in fact in think you have too much. <br/> <br/> understand that 'pristine' audio sound is not the ma...

Re: MC 505, 307, D2, JX-305

<r>Thanks. I think 307 is cool too. ]<br/> <br/> I believe D2 and 307 were both based from the older 505, but given more and updated sounds, more drums, made smaller and lighter. The big difference between them is D2 has the bright orange D-Field pad that was like the V-synths pad. The 307 has same ...
