Re: NEVER AGAIN A JUPITER
The Jupiter-80 is not a «limited keyboard» nor a «super rompler». It is a digital synth with a virtual analog synth engine where you can create a limitless amount of your own sounds. It also happens to have a lot of great samples (or models) of acoustic sounds, as well as a selection of PCM oscillat...

Re: NEVER AGAIN A JUPITER
The Jupiter 80 has always felt like a finished product to me. Yes, they could have improved some things and added some other things, but that applies to every product. And unlike some products, this synth is not broken. All advertised features work. I use the Jupiter 80 when I just want to sit down ...

Sensation Green
Here is the track, by the way, if you want to listen to it:
Sensation Green (Soundcloud)
The Jupiter-80 also plays a lead part. I will probably revisit the track to give the drums more punch and to adjust the overall pacing, but it works for now. ;)

Analog and digital
I think there is some great analog stuff on the market now, but analog or digital are just ways to get somewhere soundwise and in the end for me it's the sound that counts. I think with ACB Roland nailed the 'feeling' of analog. I can hear and feel a sound growl in low notes on a System-8 like the ...

Performance instrument
About the Jupiter-80 as performance instrument. I knew from the beginning that it wasn't a workstation. It was very much plugged as a performance instrument. I don't think I ever understand that kind of categorizing. I am absolutely NOT a performer, but strictly a studio hobbyist. My performance sk...

Re: This is more like it!!!
I love ACB and an ACB synth with 16 or 32 voices would have been dope, but instead they are gaslighting people again. Some people wanted the new Jupiter to be analog. Some wanted it to be ACB. It is neither. It is something new. It is not just SNS. It appears to be some cross between SNS and ACB. M...

Re: Gearslutz.com
This was the greatness of the live set. Layering is where the power lies in this synth. Individual tones maybe not so much. SNS doesn't get fat until it's layered & modulated. Much of my use is just the 2 live sets. I agree completely. I thought the low number of MIDI parts would be limiting, b...

Re: Gearslutz.com
Yeah, the analog anarchists really couldn't stand those beautiful acoustic sounds. But it was those sounds that drew me to the Jupiter 80 in the first place. I was originally looking at a Yamaha Motif XS as my first synth (I had only done sample-based computer music before then). I wanted a synth th...

Re: Is it just a trend to hate Roland?
The Jupiter 8 has become a fashion statement. It is desirable mainly because everyone else think it’s so desirable. And it looks cool. The hype is completely out of proportion to its sound abilities. It is easy to get caught up in the hype. I was. Until I got to spend some time with it myself. Yeah,...

Re: Gearslutz.com
I hear you! The Jupiter 80 was (and is) an excellent instrument. So much care has gone into designing and building this thing. Unfortunately they really blew it with the whole Synth Legends angle, when the VA was nowhere near powerful enough to sound like the originals. The problem was not that it c...

Re: This is more like it!!!
I've never played a real Jupiter-8. They were usually turned off in keyboard stores, and I didn't dare asking the clerk to turn it on for me. So close enough is close enough for me. I have been fortunate enough to get quality time with the Jupiter 8, the Juno 6 and 60, the Prophet 5 and the Oberhei...

Re: This is more like it!!!
At no point did I personally attack you. I'm not "hating". I'm disagreeing with your characterization of ACB and vague attempts to explain what's wrong with it without citing any examples. I've asked for clarification and you still haven't provided any. You started your reply by saying my...

Re: First post... ;-)
It is the X I'm considering as well. I don't do mini keys. I would rather have fewer, full-size keys or no keys at all (or an alternate input mechanism). I hope the colored buttons can be used for step sequencing. They were such a wasted opportunity on the Jupiter 80. Drum editing on the mini displa...

Re: This is more like it!!!
In Roland's own words (from the same comments) regarding what JUPITER means to them: JUPITER means flagship performance synth from Roland. It does not mean JUPITER-8 model. Prior to JUPITER-8 there was JUPITER-4, JUPITER-6 and later JUPITER-80. All sound different. JUPITER-X is JUPITER-class synthes...

Roland Jupiter Xm Sound Demo (No Talking) Another great demo with some excellent sounds. The filter gets a good workout! It definitely sounds more musical to me than the Jupiter 80 filters did. There is a lot of sonic bliss here. Damn, this is creamy at 4:30 ! This is impressive for a digital synth...
