Re: Discontinued

Compared to the Kronos, Rolands support for the Jupiter 80 has been miserable. The first Kronos came out about the same time as the JP-80. It came with a full editor and librarian, more to the point, Korg are still supporting it today, for free. That original Kronos is, today, running a much updated...

Varios USB Windows7

Hi,
Has anyone managed to get the Varios USB driver working under Windows 7 (32bit) if so, I would really appreciate an explanation of how you did it. It has got me baffled.

It is working fine via midi.

Re: JP80 great sound - compare Integra

The ideal companion for the JP-80 is the Korg Kronos. The JP sounds are detailed and often closer to single instruments. The Kronos is much bigger and it is like the Kronos gives you the orchestra, the JP the individual section or soloist. A good example is Brass. The JPs brass is mostly monophonic,...

Re: JD-Xi TB MIDI Stuff iPad Editor

For us idiots out here, could you please explain how I load the editor into my iPad.

Looking forward to giving it a try.

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

There is still plenty of interest in this, unfortunately I am not a programmer or I would help with the work.

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

Well done to all those who have got this project this far.

I realise much of this work is now focussed on running under OSX. If I were a Mac users, it would be my focus.

What would now be involved to transfer it across to other platforms? I realise that Swift is OSX only.

Regards,

David

Midi sequence control of percussion section

Hi, I am probably not looking in the right place in the manual. Is it possible to control the Perc section of the JP80 without either activating the section or, more importantly, not taking a section of keyboard away from the other sections? In other words I want to be able to sequence the drums but...

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

Many thanks kimsnarf for all your hard work on this project. I have just caught up with the thread again, tried the latest version of the librarian with the updated demo of Renoise and it is reading .SVD files fine. Yes, the relationships view is messy, but converting it to a .csv soon sorted it out...

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

Apologies for my error re Fantoms. I should have known better, my XV-5080 has a librarian and editor, not Roland, but it shows it can be done.

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

@saxifraga Please do not lump Korg in with Roland when it comes to file formats and support. Korg supply an editor/ librarian with their synths, yes I know you can get one for the Gaia and the V- synth, but not the Fantom or the JP-80. Since the Triton Extreme, you have been able to access external ...

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

Whilst it is possible to have the same problem with a Korg, ie having to have separate versions of the same programs for different combis, Korg Combis store a lot more information within the Combi, e.g. effects. lessening the need to duplicate a program each time you edit it. Some ways better, some ...

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

Hi Cello, AFAIK the Gaia editor is a chargable item - around 90UKP last time I looked. The V-synth editor I can't comment about as I do not own one. Apologies for my error, though it just makes the lack of one for the JP-80 even more unforgivable. As for the logic of the approach - I do not find it ...

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

Saxifraga, Korg, unlike Roland, do supply an editor for their Kronos (and M3). PCGtools is a free librarian for most Korg synths. Yamaha supply editors for their synths. Roland supply nothing. not only that, the layout of the Jupiter 80's memory mapping is arcane. The structure is lacks logic and re...

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

You don't need to learn Renoise. Just set the Jupiter as MIDI input&ouput device in Preferences, then choose the librarian under Tools. Done. :) But you won't see the librarian in 2.x since it won't install. A stand-alone app is nice but time consuming for multiple platforms. I'm on OS X myself...

Re: Reading Jupiter-80 sound sets on a PC/Mac

Yeah, I got the same thing about v3. The demo that can be downloaded is v2.8 or something. I think you have to register to get v3. I haven't as I don't want to register - get enough spam as it is lol! So, how does one 'decompile' an SVD? ie make it readable? May as well try and do it myself - even ...
