Re: G6 motherboard same as G7/8?

Thx Flavio! I was unsure to try, because it's a pain to disassemble a G6 and G7 to switch boards and then recognize it dosen't work. Now I will just switch the boards and use the G6 with the ARX-01 drums card and no extra SDRAM. Maybe I can even remove the SDRAM slot and install a replacement one fr...

G6 motherboard same as G7/8?

Hi. Got a G7 with a not functioning SDRAM slot (137pin).
Can I replace the G7 MB with a G6 MB?
Will it recognize the longer keybed and show G7 in the systems menu?

Re: External samples via USB in the Fantom G

All I can do to help is sending this link to the Micromanual written by Artemiy Pavlov. On page 31 he writes: Noise in imported samples If some of the samples that you imported from your computer have strange noise or produce only noise, you must check their format using a software sample editor. Th...

Re: Thinking Of Selling Jupiter-80 and Buying Fantom 7

Fantom 7 and Fantom 80 are very different monsters. I regard the Fantom 7 as an EDM machine. I bought a MC-707 instead. If you don't need the loop oriented sequencer and a ton of old JV/XV sounds and some Jupiter-X functionality, I wouldn't invest in it. I personally prefer my Fantom G7 even though ...

Re: Fixing my good old XP-50

Have you guys tried resoldering the smd chips? The JX-305 units all get the problem of flash rom chips loosing contact to the board. This can be easily repaired with an electronics soldering iron, some flux and tin. The pins just have to be gentley touched, so the tin gets fluid and reconnects to th...

Re: 8MB SR-JV Waveform Card for Roland JD / JV / XP / XV Series

Hi. Just got an XP-30 with two empty slots. Did you try the ROMULator yourself? Do you know anybody who uses it? I am tempted to buy one and make backup copies of all the cards I can buy, get or lend from people, so we can all share and secure the future of those old technological relics. (Praised b...

Re: Can’t send MIDI from Fantom G8 to laptop via USB connection

If you use Windows beyond 7 and VISTA, this is not gonna work the old way. You need a patched USB driver. I remember that somebody patched a few bytes in the install definition file and then it worked. You have to search the Forum, because I don't remember the link. Must be here in this FG forum tho...

Can't it be repaired? Most problems are rather easy to fix. Capacitors are in most cases the main culprit.

Re: Screen Display

Most likely power regulator failure or some caps are too old and gave up. Hardware from 2000..2015 has very often problems with cheap capacitors (caps). Did you solve the problem?

Re: Portable MIDI keyboard to complement MC101

Of course I use an Arturia Keystep most of the time, but my Novation Ultranova is perfect, if I want to have fullsize keys in a small package. It also has its own sound engine and only needs a small wallplug or can be USB powered by a laptop or USB hub. I use my old iPhone 4 with a MIDI routing soft...

Re: Q on Reverb Effect ARX-02 E-Piano not initially active

Yeah. I noticed that too. The Effects routing between ARX cards and the rest of the machine is independent from each other and can't be saved it seems. After every boot of the FG I have to reajust the effects send parameters. Have not found a way to save them. Have not used them in a studio or live ...

Re: Are the ARX cards worth it?

You are lucky. There are now many Fantom G7 available on the used vontage stuff market. I myself still use my Fantom G6 with ARX-2 & 3 cards. I am very happy with the E-Piano and Brass simulation. Since there are only two slots in the FG I have a drum card laying around. Maybe one day I will try...
