Re: Goodby all

Thanks Mc. No not a Yammy, I opted for the Korg Pa4x, it has more tweaking options and can import and convert Midi to styles so seemed a better fit for my needs. The board has now turned up and I have just started to play. Yes G has gone along with the Motif and triton as well, had a manic clear out...

Goodby all

Goodbye chaps, Its been a good ride but it's time to move on. The G was (and still is) an awesome beast but as I rely heavily on backings and chord recognition etc. programing is too complex for my needs so I am opting for an arranger instead Good luck all, you still have one of the best workstation...

Re: Is there going to be a new Fantom or other flagship keyb

No I don't think so. Yamaha have not released a workstation for a long time now, the XF was a beefed up XS and the Montage is not a workstation, Korg seem happy with their Kronos that has also been around for a long time. I don't think there is a high enough demand for workstations anymore that warr...

Re: Technology v Old School

Ahh the ever debating argument, hardware, software or both! Personally I like hardware. As a (now retired) IT guy that developed software for 40+ years I much prefer nice knobs and sliders that I can play with rather than a mouse and a screen. Funny, I loved computers and software development all my...

Re: Fantom G will not work with Editor

Thanks, no problem, hope it was all helpful. As for the PC/Fantom switch order question, personally I have my PC on all day and only switch off at night so the Fantom is switched on and off with the PC left running, I have not experienced any problems

Re: Fantom G will not work with Editor

Why don't you just transfer the files using a USB stick? Connect external USB with PC and drag en drop files to that location in you windows explorer. You do not need editor to transfer files from PC to FG. This if course is perfectly true but to help the user I think to help we should also mention...

Re: Fantom G will not work with Editor

Have you loaded the Fantom G Drivers to your PC first as you will get this message if you have not? If you have not, downloaded and installed the drivers then please do this first. Note, the drivers will load fine on windows XP but they will not load on Windows 10 as Roland have not released a windo...

No, the factory reset will not roll back the software update. That will stay at 1.5

Re: no more sample numbers?

Hmm! The manual states two possibilities: The sample cannot be divided any further ---------------------------------------------------- Since fewer than 256 consecutive sample numbers are vacant, no consecutive sample numbers. further sampling is possible --------------------------------------------...

Re: Is $2000 too much?

I agree, the G must be the most underrated keyboard ever! I have the Motif XS that I purchased before the G but could never get on with it, the GUI is dire! When I got the G it was like a new world, so easy to use and operate, it just invites you to delve deeper. I also have a very old Triton-LE so ...

Re: Is $2000 too much?

Ahh that delicious sensation of making a purchase, a combination of anticipation, excitement and caution all battling away :) If you want it for business then it is an easy decision, Does it have the right image, does it have or can it be programmed for the sounds you need, is there a cheaper altern...

Re: Is $2000 too much?

Sounds a plan :) keyboards are a bit like a car, only you can tell if its right for you and worth it, and once purchased you will always find one cheaper as they devalue over time. I assume you have done your homework to see if the price is about right for your part of the world and even if not, is ...

Re: Backup! your data

Wise words and a good reminder. An alternative for those that have their G connected to a computer via USB is to use the Menu-USB Storage option from the G main menu and load the G as an external storage on your PC. You can then copy the projects to safe storage
