Re: Need your feedback on the Boutiques
Hi Cello! Positive - they all sound very analog and true Improvement - Add CC control instead of sysex, and also from USB midi, for JP-08 add the control of both layers at the same time, add more user patch memories, more polyphony at least 8 notes, more robust output audio immunity to ground loops ...

New Editor / Librarian / Live controller for JP-08
I started this as a private little project for controlling better the JP-08... then it became a full featured editor, librarian and live controller, with a special attention to Dual mode! Key features: - Real time control of all JP-08 parameters, both layers simultaneously when DUAL is enabled - Acc...

Have you set both the unit in "chain" mode?

Re: JX-03 Patch Distortion
I recommend using an external USB power pack for cellular phones, that gives always constant 5V until it is discharged

Re: Roland Boutique Sysex
they work for any number of devices, also only one. You have just to enable the polychain mode. If you have 2 or more units, get the midi sysex output from the last of the chain, and send the midi sysex input to the first of the chain

Re: Roland Boutique Sysex
The sysex dump that JP08 sends when changing patch is quite easy to understand, comparing the PRM text file saved in the internal memory and the sysex list ;-)
Basically the parameters are the same of the PRM patch, with some ridundand data, probably left there for future use

Re: JP-08 Output Jack
for the power supply I suggest one of the several power banks for mobile phones, that are rechargable at nearly zero cost. Boutiques absorb about 350 mA, so a 15000 mAh power bank (quite common nowadays) can give over 40 hours of play time :)

Re: Possible CC control?
Just installed the driver and discovered that midi Note ON and OFF are always sent with midi by USB, also when in polychain mode, so problem 100% resolved. It is sufficient to connect the boutique both with USB and with DIN MIDI

Re: Possible CC control?
In other words: if I play with the K25 keyboard and in polychain mode I can record with the DAW the movement of the sliders, but not the note played (more precisely: I can record only the notes after the 5th voice), if I turn off polychain I can record all notes but not the sysex so no movements of ...

Re: Possible CC control?
That is how it works. The master machine plays first and then the slave machine. Is yours doing it differently? And Sysex in works without poly chain on or else poly chain wouldn't work with transferring the patches/changes to the slave unit. (You don't put the slave unit in poly chain mode, or it ...

Re: Possible CC control?
Everything is operating as it should with poly chain on. It only sends the notes that can't be played on the unit itself in this mode. This is intentional. Otherwise both machines chained together will play the notes simultaneously, which would not increase your voices. If you turn off poly chain, ...

Re: Possible CC control?
But.. there is a big BUT.. enabling the polychain mode, and playing notes with the mini keyboard (still didn't try with an external keyboard) the MIDI sent to daw does not include Note ON messages until I keep pressed 4 keys on the keyboard. It sends only note OFF. So when in polychain, the master ...

Re: Power Options
I got 2 JP-08 and put in polychain: when they are powered from the same USB device (or pc or cell charger etc..) AND the audio from one is put on input of the other, there is digital noise: a classical case of ground loop between the digital and analog paths. Easy solution is power them with 2 diffe...

Re: Possible CC control?
just received my JPs (got 2 for extended polyphony) and made some experiments with MIDI-OX and my DAW (Sonar). I was able to record on the DAW the sysex list, moving some sliders on the JP, and playing the recording, I obtained the parameters changes on the JP-08, so all seems promising. But.. there...
