Some people might be off put because of COSM filters, but VA part in V is really, really good (normal waveforms, HQ waveforms, ramp & juno waveforms, supersaws, cross mod and feedback osc) and each oscillator come with dedicated envelopes...

Why would you want to swap a XT to get a V??? XT is miles above the V with vocoder, d50 and on top of that its an audio interface too.. I try to pick samples with no to very little modulation in order to get the best sampling for loops. Doing the modulations from the synth engine is better imo (LFOs, matrix etc.)
Sounds with plenty of movement & modulation tend to the artifacts you encounter.

They command insane prices for D-50's here, so I bought VC-1 boxed which was cheaper.

You need a PCMCIA - CF adapter.
