Re: D70 Factory Reset Card

For future reference: I had the exact same problem after replacing the entire display of my D-70. It only showed "No RAM Card <Exit>" and sending Sysex didn't work. Solution: Switch off your D-70. Hold the NUMBER 8 button and power on. It will display: "Clear all memory. Are you sure?...

Re: D 70 lower keys not working

I have repaired a D-70 with the exact same problem. If the flex cable in the picture is yours you're in trouble :-) All the traces are broken on the one in the picture. Unfortunatly it's a very common problem for the D-5 / D-70 / U-20 / JD-800 You can either buy a new cable (the new one is one part ...

Re: Data Card Battery Low

As far as I know the PN-JV80-xx cards are ROM cards and have no battery like the M128 / M256 / M512 cards.

You probably already knew where to find the battery on one of those..

Isn't the battery of the JV-1080 itself low? :-)

Looking for manuals by Dan Walker

Hi, I'm looking for some very old manuals written by Dan Walker (Alexander publishing) for the Roland U-20 and the Roland D-50. I cannot find these manuals online anywhere... they are from the 80's and 90's.. I contacted the publisher but they don't have them anymore.. I'm not looking for the origin...

Re: New Roland U-20 Website Went Live Today

Great site :-) I'm a longtime fan of the U-20 (I own 2). I read somewhere that you might have acquired a load of patchbanks for the U-20 but there are only a couple on your site. Do you have more patches?

Re: XP-10 won't power up

Well, test it to be sure :-)

If the powersupply is ok, you'll have to open up to XP-10 to test is any juice is going to the mainboard.

Re: roland jv1000 problem .with photo

The JV-1000 is somewhat notorious for powersupply problems. Open it up and check all the soldering joints on the powersupply board. Better reheat them all with a soldering iron. Replace the CR2032 battery while you're in there and try again.

Re: Fantom FA-76 broken key

Just change it yourself :-) The FA-76 is fairly recent so it's probably very easy to replace it. On older 80's / 90's gear it can be difficult to get to the keys because you have to remove several circuitboards and a million wires..

Re: XP-10 won't power up

If the XP-10 has an external powersupply check it with a multimeter to see if that still works. Also check the polarity. Roland switches + and - compared to the rest of the world :-) The plug you put in your XP-10 should probable have the + on the outside and - on the inner pin. Check the symbol on ...

Re: roland jv1000 no sound

The JV-1000 is notorious for having power supply problems. Check the power supply board for bad solder contacts.

Re: Roland XP50 LCD Display Problems

Well thanks for the help anyway :-)

I've decided to cannibalize my XP-50. If anyone needs parts let me know. I won't charge eBay prices :-) everything works fine except the mainboard.

Re: Roland XP50 LCD Display Problems

:-( I have checked all traces and found one open trace. I've made a bypass and soldered on all remaining caps but still the same problem... I've tried various patches and they all sound very distorted. A piano doesn't sound like a piano etc. Pretty much everything sounds like a broken supersaw wavef...

Re: Roland XP50 LCD Display Problems

Very good Julio :-)

I've removed half the newly installed caps to check for leakage of the old caps and I'm considering removing the rest of the new caps too just to be sure everything is clean. I also allows me to better check all the traces. I'll try to continue tomorrow..

grtz, Valentine.
