In case you didn't find this, there is an init patch in Preset F Essential. Set the category to no assign to save searching thru the list.

A possible development on this in that Roland have added a 'Send to System-8' option on the Aira microsite which uses Sysex to transfer single patches thru' web-midi. So it appears the S8 does support sysex after all!

No further docs for it tho, and MIDI chart still shows it's not supported.

The TR-8S files are very different. You now get two files. If you export a pattern you get a t8p and txt file, for a kit you get a t8k and txt file. TR-8S - I think this needs the MX-1 to have v.105 update installed but I might be confusing that with the System-8 requirements.

You can't choose the alternate sounds. They are what they are. Also, all the sounds with '/' in the name are ACB modelled, not samples, so you won't be able to make your own:-(

IME with Decksavers, they don't obstruct any cables that connect at the rear and have cutouts for any cables that connect in the top (like the Korg Volca ones) so you can just leave them connected. Sounds like you need to do a firmware upgrade as this is the behaviour of the original firmware where all the banks were the same. Upgrading should give you all 8 banks.
