Re: System-8 Firmware v. 1.12 Released
If, after installing 1.12, you get an error -- "Sys Mem Damaged!" -- I suggest the following. First, if it's not too late (if you're still on 1.11), do a full backup to SD Card (MENU / UTILITY / BACKUP) and call it something like s8bak-pre112.bin. This will save everything: system settings...

System-8 Firmware v. 1.12 Released
System-8 Firmware version 1.12 has been released. Looks like it addresses a number of defects, including disappearing patch data, and the bug mono/portamento cutout bug. Since we've seen patches updated with firmware updates, it's probably worth backing up/exporting any of your custom patches & ...

Re: Please explain the 3rd Plug Out
Unless it's included as a firmware update (like the 106 was with the last one), you will likely need to get a DAW. Even if it's just to load the plug-out. That's the way it is right now. I don't use DAWs for production either, but I've had no problem loading the plug-outs using GarageBand on the Mac...

(Turns on my System-8. Taps a few keys. Yep, still working.)
Yeah, I'm good.

They are already available. I think he means if there is any word as to whether the software VSTs (not the System 8 plug-outs) available on Roland Cloud are available for purchase, outside of the Roland Cloud subscription. The answer is "no", no word on if or when they'll be available any...

Re: MX-1 and TR-09 / TR-03
I think Roland added MX-1 firmware support for one Boutique synth on USB 3 of the MX-1 -- power, audio and MIDI. But it's just one at a time, and I don't know if that support included the Boutiques that had not yet been released (TR-09, TB-03, VP-03). It probably does, but you're only going to free ...

Re: Issue with the System-1 Librarian
You installed the proper USB driver for the 1m, and confirmed in Windows (outside of the Roland software) that it is working, yes? https://www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/system-1m/updates_drivers/3f4d3eac-ac68-488c-9d27-9fdd4a52d8b4/ Even so, your original issue was looking for a free DAW,...

Re: Hints & Tips
Q: Would it be a good idea to Export the Patches one at a time a second time, after all the Exchanges have been complete, just to be sure we will be able to Import them back if needed later. I did this early on, but I don't think I've once gone back to fetch one. And I don't really worry any longer...

Re: Hints & Tips
Q: How exactly do we copy a patch from Plugout 1 (or 2) over to Plugout 3? My Plugout 3 is currently empty. Can you (or anybody else reading this) provide step-by-step instructions on how to do this, please? I'm getting confused. I simply meant that I could load whatever other plug-out (SH101, SH2,...

Re: How does Roland Cloud work?
It immediately expires when you disable internet? lol wow - that is pretty amateur for a cloud service. Digital rights management should at least let you go a week or something between authorisations, but clearly they're not using such a method and are relying on a simple reply back from their serv...

Turn Omni Mode ON.
"If this is ON, MIDI messages of all channels are received (valid only in patch mode).
The MIDI transmit channel is either the Patch Ch (in patch mode) or the Upper Ch and Lower Ch (in performance mode)."

Re: Midi Ch 2 on System-8 in Logic / Mac
Did you change the MIDI channels in the System 8 menus to match those in Logic? Did you get this, the System 8 Reference Manual PDF? It goes into all the details of setting up MIDI in the manual for both Patch and Performance modes. It really is very well-documented, just not in the printed Owner's ...
