Re: JD-Xa - 4 times the value of the JD-Xi?!
... and just for completeness ... I did buy a JD-Xa some while ago now. It's a different instrument compared to the excellent value JD-Xi but I still use the JD-Xi a lot. Why? The sequencer is much easier to use and in many ways more capable, it has a very flexible great sounding drum synth and is g...

Positives - nice accessible sound creation architecture
Improvements - a proper sequencer & an editor
Keeps - control layout - really intuitive (if not easy to read)

Re: Roland will you make an editor?
Really do NEED an editor for this beast - the menu diving is not for me but there is so much stuff there that should be tweaked. Is the editor ever going to get finished memorysplice? I for one would pay decent money for a full implementation and one based around Ctrlr suits me just fine. Rumours of...

Re: Filter Test
It will be interesting to see if it is any different. Difficult to describe the noise ratio but I hadn't noticed it until prompted to listen. There is plenty of noise generated by some effects and regrettably it isn't a perfect world. I used to be terribly pedantic - now not so much, listening to th...

Re: Filter Test
Aside from some filter click I can hear a bit of background noise on just the lowest notes of the keyboard. Hear it with sine and triangle waveforms too. Very quiet relative to the filtered waveform but yes there is a bit of something arriving in the signal chain. Bit of digital crosstalk perhaps.. ...

Re: Ignore incoming note on/off messages?
Note data is coming from sequencers (Beat Step Pro & a Zacquencer).
So far I worked around it using the wonderful flexibility of the Zacquencer and excluded midi notes being sent on one of the 2 midi outputs - clock is sent tho. Does the job but would have been nicer to do it on the JD-Xa.

Ignore incoming note on/off messages?
Anybody know an easy way to stop the JD-Xa responding to Note on/off data? I need it to see an external midi clock but that is all really. Although it seems to be setup for channels 7 - 16 I am still getting note events put out on channel 1. Probably missing something obvious here but would be handy...

Re: Roland Instagram Pic of White JD-XA
Looks better in black & red. Not keen in the way the backlights seems to bleed thru the white panel? Yes sure the lettering is virtually unreadable on the original (out of direct sunlight), but after several hours of use I know where all the knobs are without having to try and read the poor lege...

Re: alternative to DAW
Hi guys Is there any good alternative to a DAW when speaking sequencing ? For instans if you want to hook up a drummaschine and the JD Xa and keep it fairly simple, Ive been looking at Jd Xi for this matter but would prefer to run a "clean" hardware sequencer, any suggestions? Br Jack Hi,...

All Notes OFF?
Is there a way to issue an all notes off command from the JD-Xi?
Thanks.

Re: Building a JD-Xi editor for iPad
This thing definitely needs an editor - menu diving is excruciating here.
I would prefer PC based but I would use an iPad if software was available to do this.
Great idea - keen to see your progress!

Re: JD-Xa - 4 times the value of the JD-Xi?!
Thanks Richard for your considered response - helpful most definitely. I could well believe Roland will update the sequencer to at least equal the Xi - incredible how it can be inferior. To be honest I am still unsure. The Xi was a very pleasant surprise and any backward steps on something 4 x the c...
