What about processing in software DAW and resampling into your groovebox? Do you happen to have a banjo and can you play the riff an octave up?

Agreed. Akai's latest stuff is full of half-baked ideas. Roland must have had a solid team working on the MV's a decade ago.

Is there room to stick a toothpick through the keys? Would it make sense to put superglue on the end of one of those pointy toothpicks and stick the guitar pick with it. Of course this would be very delicate even if there was plenty of room for a toothpick to slip between keys.

I've only ever owned a SPD-30/Octatrack, but I've played the SPD-SX in a Sam Ash. Also have played the Yamaha DTX Multi 12 briefly at the same store. I guess I've also briefly played some of the Alesis Sample variations (but you know them better). Also have played the Nord Drum Pad 3 and 2's in Perf...
