Re: What about "Be the BEST Rather Than the BIGGEST"?

No the System 8 hasn't sold more than JD-XA, for a start JD-XA was out a lot earlier (over a year?) so of course has a lead, also if you check pricespy and other ranking sites the JD-XA has always shown as more popular (in search and customer engagement) than system 8 https://pricespy.co.uk/category...

Re: New Front Panel Overlay coming for JD-XA

Do we take it the official covers are not as high quality as the SG ones? are they the same thickness, material etc? Seeing the new system 8 has those brushed aluminum panels just like I was asking for 'add on' stickers/replacement panels for JD-XA makes me a bit sick, esp as the system 8 is both a ...

Re: Roland s overlays.

I've emailed roland about these, when the hell are these things actually going to be freely available to all not just the select few who visit trade shows??? :( ATM my XA looks clean as a whistle (it isn't, it has scuffs etc) but you just can not see them how I have it mounted on the low tier of an ...

Simple:

JD-XA is an amazing synth.

System 8 is merely an OK one.

Re: OS update coming soon?

If anyone has any sway/contact/direct feedback possible to Roland (cello?) then, further to my comment about the buried parameter to change remote/slave/int clock for midi (seq/fx) where I said holding SHIFT + TAP would be ideal to bring that menu up (and cycle with button presses of tap), I think t...

Re: OS update coming soon?

FWIW I have no bad problems with 1.50 for those that are holding off updating. That's not to say the OS can't get BETTER with OS2 and add more features or w/e but I'm honestly quite happy with how it is at the time, even with the couple of bugs that affect me personally they are not deal breakers. I...

Re: New Front Panel Overlay coming for JD-XA

http://forums.rolandclan.com/download/file.php?id=1968 That angle does look really good. Shame Roland aren't making them to look like this too. I don't like the idea of the official covers just 'resting on' either? I mean how will they look solid if they flap about? esp on the pitch bend stick area...

Re: New Front Panel Overlay coming for JD-XA

My products are not for everyone. But are exactly what some have asked for their own reasoning that they require. :) To be clear, I'm not knocking your overlay, I'm not knocking relocation of text to below knobs (if it must), I'm not even knocking the fact it's white text which to me is a touch mor...

Re: I can't bring myself to like the JD-XA - I'm selling it.

^^^^^ What he said. ;) It's REPLACED almost all the synths in my studio. While it's not exactly the same as all of them, it's very versatile and sounds great itself covering almost all the facets of synthesis from punchy mono bass to sweeping pads, to squelchy sequences, analog drums, ambience, atmo...

Re: BIG KNOB preset/patch sounds

there is no 'big knob'... Thank god. This is a real synth for synth nuts, not a little toy/groovebox/preset thing. The idea of having a "Big knob" do all the work for you is beyond inane on such a powerful synth as the JD-XA. JD-Xi and JD-XA are worlds apart, one is aimed at younger playe...

Re: Price Rises

yes, quite possibly. The american synths rose a lot - Moog/DSI - Prophet 6 went up almost £500 putting into 'ridiculous' price for what it is category. Moog sub37 is now almost £200 more than when I bought mine (new). XA isn't from the US but brexit etc will affect everything, hey you can't make an ...

Re: New Front Panel Overlay coming for JD-XA

Honestly don't know what the big deal is about the 'labels' being at the bottom. That's breaking convention. Juno and jupiter weren't at the bottom, v-synth not at bottom, jd-800 not at bottom. For me it's fine as it is namely because I don't even need to read them after the first week (yes I've sai...

Re: Embarrassing to admit ...

Digital side has a specific Aftertouch setting in the menu (unlike the analog with the matrix control). It's in the common tone parameters I think.
