Cool project!! Will be checking in on this :) How much prior experience do you have of programming / electronics? Been thinking about getting into DIY synths and such for a while, and this was inspiring. Good luck and happy hacking :D

There's an option in the system menu, labeled (a bit cryptic maybe) "internal switch". When set to off it doesn't output any audio just MIDI :)

I love the JD-Xi! I think it's a great starter synth, got tons of features for reasonable price, and sounds great! Positive: great drums (big reason for me getting the Xi).
