in the edit screen of sample set the start/end points where u want them, then audition sound. wen u hit the pad it plays from the start/end points only

Easiest way to create good patches onboard is the partial copy function in the PCM Tone edit page, it give you access to all preset/user patches (tones) in the PCM engine.

This is possible when doing it from the PCM tone edit page 1,2,3,4
1 = Bass c0 - b3
2 = Piano c4 - g9
3 = Strings c4 - g9
4 = off

when transmitted cubase sees it as one tone, one midi channel

if you turn on the remote function on fa06 or whatever all midi commands work as if your at the fa06 itself not at mine at the moment so I cant test it out. But I believe this is the solution your looking for. Its in the system menu

Maybe Remote+sysex of hold button?? maybe try that

quick way to get sysex on any controller is to start an empty sequencer, manipulate controller, stop sequencer, check microscope for sysex string of controller part
