Re: New OS released (1.20 June 2018)

Yeah, pretty big! In some ways better than a new plug-out, in some sense it is a 'new plug-out'. I've only played around with the new Osc and Filter types so have not done any critical listening, but if they have the same standard as the modelling and original release system-8 I think there is some ...

Re: System 8 - Poly Plugouts.

I'm real happy with the VA synths I got with my System-8. Now that does not mean I wouldn't like more poly engines. And I am still wondering if they can make more voices as they said that the System-8 is very powerful? If I remember correctly from Marcus Fullers examinations everything is done withi...

Re: Next Generation of System series

I think it is pretty good as it is, just keep building on the basis - more plug-outs, both new ideas and a mix of old synths in a reimagine release. We have no idea how they generate the voices; could the 'motor' of the System-8 be powerful enough to make 12-16 voices if the VCO/Filter where not ove...

Re: Unrealized potential

I haven't really heard of anyone who got it who was greatly let down - have you? And that's the selling point I needed. I'm grabbing one before the Holidays :D Thoman is selling them dirt cheap right now! It is 100$ (1000SEK) lower than I bought it for a year ago (I get things cheap through buying ...

Re: Unrealized potential

Wouldn't mind New synth engines with inspirations from the past, poly that is. I am happy with my purchase, and the coming purchase of the mono plug-outs but yeah, push the product - all reviews are very positive and the sound is great. I haven't really heard of anyone who got it who was greatly let...

Re: System-8 Plug-Out registration?

That # is for when you buy plug-out synths at the Aira store - you will get them a little bit cheaper owning a S1, S1m or S8.

I'm waiting for a sale to buy them all.

I will still champion S8. It is easy to work with and you can get very nostalgic with your music.

Anywho... I love my modular stuff - buy a rack :)

Re: Happy (so far) Owner of a System-8!

I've had other synthezisers die on me, it happens.

Hopefully you will get a new one quickly. My S1m died after 10min but they sent a new one from the distributer and I switched it at my shop 1 week later, new one is still working :)

Might be an idea to become an electrician in this day and age...

Re: Happy (so far) Owner of a System-8!

Yeah, it has so many possibilities still unimplemented and I hope Roland will add, support and push for this product for quite some time to come. I think, as you mentioned a librarian is a good start. I hope that inbuilt in that librarian is a way for us to set a virtual midi synth where we can set ...

Re: Endless Variation Encoders. A reason?

An other thing I noticed and would like is programable lenght of sweep when we are modulating the Osc with LFO. A start and stop point. It could be like: where the starting point of the knob is as you assign it to a modulation source and then you turn it to the maximum value one want it to reach. It...

Re: Shift button

What I use it for all the time is: init the sound - shift+patch if irc. And quick scroll - shift+button of choice.

I am sure there are quite a few more uses, especially whith plug-out variants that has odd controlls.

Re: Portamento voice steal bug in S8 poly mode

Right. First note stops after 7 presses. With Legato On it does not. Plug-outs do not stop the first note after 7 presses.

Can anyone find any good use for this behavior?

Re: Portamento voice steal bug in S8 poly mode

I will test this and report back. Would like to see a 'bug list' thread. 1. Here is an other odd thing. Playing keyboard over midi using S8 as soundsource - the sustain pedal is not recognized. And, if I remember correctly, using a pedal connected to S8 will apply sustain on the notes even when sent...

Re: D50 CS80 PLUG-OUTS

Then it is a done deal. Get to it Roland :D

System-8 is getting alot of praise from those who dig into it and alot of flack from those who like to spout hyperbole, like reading democrats and republicans discussing anything in the states....

Re: D50 CS80 PLUG-OUTS

Roland has stated they need, or at least it would help, to have the original schematics as well as the machine itself. Now I would love a CS80 ACB clone, with added polyphonic aftertouch via midi so you could play it with a good keyboard (or Roli in my case). I haven't gotten the CS80 Memorymoon ME8...
