Re: Time for a new screen?
you're wrong ;), replacing my LCD from roland for the ....third time! was a battle with them! even if they know it's a manufacturing default of the LCD. (now they have built a new LCD but you must pay for it (so pay to solve their manufacturing quality problems). this new LCD requires a firmware upg...

Re: XV-5080 sound issues
the 3.3V is generated onboard with a regulator but the power supply output is 5V ;)

Re: Official Juno-G replacements from Roland!
After a big battle my reseller took the repair costs at its charge (119€).(I bought good chocolates to thank him) But he told me that the roland repair service did not want to repair it for free even if they know the faulty LCD issue. (and that was the second time I replaced the LCD on my Juno). Now...

Re: XV-3080 Encoder Replacement ?
The encoder seems to be the same as the one used on the XV5080.

Re: XV-5080 encoder replacement
as requested here are the details on how to replace the XV-5080 encoder. -> you make it at your own risks and you must have electronic skills to do it. To get the old encoder you must open the cover and remove carefully the front panel. Remove the crews holding the right switch panel PCB The origina...

Re: XV-5080 sound issues
all works well but even with a psu recap there's lot of ripple at the psu output. the output voltage is badly regulated. It's not a PSU failure, it's from design. you can't hear it but the PSU make a buz noise at the boot and I don't like it. the ripple when a light load is connected (boot of the XV...

Re: MC-505 LED Replace
they seems to be regular 5mm through hole leds so you can buy 5mm blue leds but the voltage drop of blue leds is higher than red, yellow and old green (570nm) leds. sometimes that can cause problem to the electronic but if I have free time and find the service manual with schematic I can check this ...

Re: XV-5080 sound issues
well. recap of SMD aluminium caps is done for the mainboard and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to the XV-5080 owners to do the same (or ask to a service dpt to do it). I have used Nichicon 105°C 2000HRS CD serie caps as replacement (5000HRS were not available with low esr and same size). I think pictures are be...

Re: XV-5080 encoder replacement
no for me it's not a problem the new encoder uses 24 detents instead of 36 but for me it's not an issue.
if you can find an EC16B with push function you can use the wiring to connect it if you want :)
the problem of the EC16B is the plastic shaft instead of metal.

Re: XV-5080 sound issues
Confirmed! it's a power supply problem. I've replaced the voltage regulator and the problem is gone! \o/ and even before to recap the PSU and without the test bypass capacitor connected. Ripple is now at 90mV instead of 400mV a video before: https://youtu.be/4nW7qyra8vM and after replacing the regul...

Re: XV-5080 encoder replacement
yes there's the 16mm from tyco and EC16B (ALPS) but they are not easily available with push button and metal shaft, this is why I've used the 11mm from bourns. and even with 16mm model the wiring will be different from the original part. but if you find another encoder you can adapt the wiring to it...
