the 1.5 update also includes an updated soundset. you can download the "version 1.0 sound set" here: http://axial.roland.com/category/jd-xa/
you have to make a backup of your own sounds before an update (eg to usb). everything will be overwritten.

Re: Couple of questions before buying
This is not viewed as a problem for you guys? Any workarounds on roland? there are very few synths that do this. maybe workstations. that would recommend double the processing power. i personaly never change patches in a song. like a guitar player or a drummer never changes his instruments in the m...

Re: JD-XA static LFO sound.
an lfo is by definition not static.
maybe you're confusing lfo and oscillator?
can you post an example?
if you mean only 1 voice is affected by the lfo, the lfo's are per part (analog 4 parts, digital 12 parts), so you can just add it to one part.

chordmemory
by holding a chord and press unison
random voice detune
pitch randomisation with every key press for more vintage feel
global lfo for the analog part
possibility to sync the lfo of all 4 voices but free running

Re: Petitioning Roland for JD-XA updates.
2nd thing would be a data entry knob. Suggestion: shift+mute button turns the Volume knob into a data entry knob.. until shift+mute is pressed again. second that! plus fix the arpeggiator. we should expect the cpu to be underpowered. so a massive update of functionality of the sequencer most probab...

Re: External controller?
Lets hope Roland give us a Shift + ? shortcut for selecting waves in the future as it is the most laborious every day function of an otherwise hands on instrument. i wouln't count on it. if roland would make an update to change things it would be like admitting a mistake. and you know what samurais...

no i didn'tOneOfManyPauls wrote:@Saturn: other than the hard-wired LFO destinations (filter, osc pitch, amp, pw - and pan/mod lfo rate in digital) have you found any way to route any LFO to anywhere else as it's not a mod matrix source.

Re: A Crossover
edit: sorry i was actually talking about the term "hybrid" above.
but crossover means more or less the same. a combo of analog and digital.
and yes it's a roland marketing term.

Re: Modulate noise level via LFO?
not in front of the jdxa, but it should be possible using the matrix and assign cc31 (aux mix) to an lfo.
if it's a monophonic sound just add another analog part layer with modulated noise only.

Re: A Crossover
usually it means digital waves going through an analog filter.
this is also true for the jdxa but you can also cross-/ring mod the analog with the digital part or just run them parallel or use digital and analog filters in series.
