Re: Possible drum mute workaround for Roland JD-Xi
It IS possible to mute individual drums while a pattern is playing, but you have to be in tone edit mode for it to work That is actually the issue for some users. It's possible, but in many cases it's not practical / quick enough to be useful, for example if you're performing live. I think other th...

Re: JD XI - export patterns (from E to H) to PC
As far as I understand it, our options are somehow complementary to each other and are: 1) export via USB to computer in (proprietary?) .BIN format. This is only useful as backup practice and/or to work around the maximum limit of programs you can store on the JD-Xi. I hope to be wrong but as far as...

Polyrhythmic patterns
Just to be sure, is this correct?
1. a measure can only be 16 steps long
2. all tracks have the same number of measures
As far as I can tell, the internal sequencer doesn't allow any polyrhythms - are there any workarounds (other than external sequencing)?

Re: SSL for these forums
Letsencrypt is free and has been active for years! :) All IT news sites routinely mention their service: they issued more than free 100,000,000 certificates up to now, and provide a cross-platform friendly solution. Hopefully, the forum owners will consider using their certificates as well. https://...

Re: Shared User Presets and Patches
https://patchbend.com is another repository - it's much, much smaller than Roland's Axios, but apparently built by users, for users.

Re: JD-Xi successor with more tracks, touchscreen sequencer?
I think the point of the JD-Xi is to be cheap. Even if it's your first and only instrument, it packs enough features to allow you to build almost complete tracks. For beginners and people on a low budget like me, it's a great entry point to DAW-free music production. All improvements you mention mak...

Re: Step sequencer do not work with an external midi keyboar
I confirm the same behaviour.
My setup: keyboard connected via USB cable to computer; SEQ24 sequencer accepting keyboard as input and passing MIDI data thru channel 1; JD-Xi connected to computer via USB Uno MIDI Interface.

Re: LFO depth button
As far as I can tell, the effect is not the same. I'm afraid I'm using the wrong terms, but I would say that the LFO intensity is the same, while the "direction" is the opposite or "symmetrical". Anyway, the overall result may depend on other features of the sound you're using. I...

Re: SSL for these forums
It's true. And it's a quite bad thing, even for a free service, because it affects the security of the whole website.
It's currently possible to get proper SSL certificates for free. Of course, this would still require some work on the administration site.
I'd be thankful if this could be fixed.

I can't open that link, but a few weeks ago ultimatepatches.com started giving away a free "Taster Pack" of 30 JD-Xi patches from the collection they sell. I guess it's the same thing? direct link: http://www.ultimatepatches.com/demo%20packs/JD-Xi%20Ultimate%20Patches%20-%20Taster%20Pack.z...

Re: First Real Complaint About the JD-Xi
My biggest complaint is that my JD-Xi sometimes *freezes*. It's happened very rarely (3 or 4 times), but when it does I need to shut it down and turn it on again. That'd be embarassing and really disruptive during a live performance. I may consider selling it if it happens again / more frequently. T...

Another workaround: use Favorites.
This video may help (it shows how to emulate a "Song Mode", which the JD-Xi actually lacks):

Re: DIY MIDI controller for the JD-Xi
I don't have news about the current status of this project...but I've been using the JD-Xi for a few months now and I think an additional controller really makes sense. The JD-Xi hides lots of powerful features/settings/parameters under the hood, but digging through the display menus to use them is ...
