According to the Reference Manual you can assign foot controller 1 or 2 to song start/stop.

Re: A recommendation: 3-Pedal board Roland RPU-3
According to the Juno DS manual, the hold pedal input supports half-pedaling. This means it is capable to work with switches and continous controllers, similar to the FA.

Re: New FA-08 user
1. Typically, there is no problem with the headphone output. May be you have to release the idea, that sound is best, when you set all parameters to default. The FA is a musical instrument for creative minds, not HiFi gear. Use EQs, leveling and gain when ever appropriate. Taste and outboard equipme...

Re: Obsolete
There were times when hardware gear was sold 'as is'. Roland has proven, that this is a valid way to generate classics.

Re: Ableton live template = 4x6 Knobs + 16 pads
With "Ableton Live" template on the FA you can use 4 x 6 knobs + 16 pads. The MIDI output is not configurable, so the DAW/ext. gear must be configurable or support MIDI-learn. The FA-Pads trigger instruments within the drum rack in Ableton. I suppose they send Note on/off messages, but I d...

Re: Setup Advice: FA 06/07 +analog synth +88 keyboard +loope
Considering the price I can recommend the FA-08 key action for piano. A little on the heavy side and slow repetition, but I have played real pianos which are worse. For the FA-06 there are a lot of complains. Sometimes even the piano sound was suspected to be broken, because velocity dynamics of the...

Re: Custom Rythm Pattern (Sample)
The drum robot is bound to part 10, so you have to set the sample pad section to part 10. In Studio-Set mode press Shift-> Studio Common, on the 'General' -tab you find 'Pad Part Select'. Here you set it to Part 10. Now the drum robot triggers the samples and not the synth drums. I tested it with fa...

Re: Setup Advice: FA 06/07 +analog synth +88 keyboard +loope
You will be more flexible, if your setup stays simple. Check out if you like the key action of the FA-08 as piano, replace the Kawai and keep the FA as your single working machine. Wait with additional investment into an analog and second digital synth, until you really feel the limitations of the F...

Re: Suggestion on what to replace the FA with?
If you like the sounds, keep the FA. Did you every think of using a Looper or Beatbox like an MC-707, MPC, Digitakt etc. as sidekick to the FA. Personally I use a Novation Circuit connected via MIDI as a little step and pattern sequencer. Though still limited, it works very well and intuitive for me...

Re: Control Anything With EC-5 Expression
I recommend to start the controller topic on a studio set level, because only the PCM-engine of the FA has a comprehensive controller matrix (which means you can assign many parameters to different controllers). In studio set mode go to into the 'Studio Common' settings. The interesting tabs are 'Pe...

Another possibility: Press [shift] and [sequencer] at the same time. This opens a mixer view of all 16 parts, where you can easily adjust volume, pan/balance, reverb, chorus for every part. Use the arrow keys for navigation and the dial wheel to change values. As already said, the drums are on part ...

Re: critical os updates
Just to avoid misunderstandings for people who might read this topic: The FA-06/08 was released 2014. In 2017 Roland provided a firmware 2.0, which brought a few new features. This version received several bugfixes. The latest was Jan. 2019. Beside that there were some additional releases of new boa...

Re: Default Sample Bank
The content of the sampler is connected and saved with the current song in the sequencer (Why? No idea). In system setup you can specify the song, which is loaded by default. So create a song with empty sample banks or your favorite samples, save it and make it your default on instrument startup. Re...

Re: FA as MIDI-Controller problem
So are you using the FA08 sequencer for this set up? (Guessing it will have midi thru which the FA7 doesn't). I really want to use Reaper on my PC not the fiddly little screen on the FA7 1. Currently the setup is DAWless. I can record 16 MIDI channels in the FAs sequencer, which is OK for short sni...
