Re: Open Letter to Roland: Pattern Length: 16
Oh. So they have a way of handling to many overdubs. This must be a niche group of users, though. I'm a dev and I know there's not many bytes per CC, even with recorded knob twists you'd have to work to run out of memory. So that means that since they handle it there's even less of a reason for the ...

Open Letter to Roland: Pattern Length: 16
I think the best way to make a great synth even better is to suggest improvements. Smaller synthesizer companies like Elektron and Teenage Engineering are good at listening to feedback; more agile. I think it is necessary for Roland to adapt to this new thinking as well; just keep with the times. My...

Re: Play one program after another like on JD-Xi?
Just seems a strange omission. They'd get much more impressive Youtube videos from users. JD-Xa and JD-Xi are very similar in that it's SuperNatural+analog, and you can press Play to stop a program, then quickly press next program and play. The sequencer is also similar. It just seems a strange omis...

Play one program after another like on JD-Xi?
I.e. Program Select, Bank, A, 01, play. Two seconds later, press some button to queue another program, like A02.
This is possible on the JD-Xi, which makes it possible to make more than a 'beat', a whole song, in fact.
Possible on the JD-Xa?

Re: Very low output volume
Menu / Output Gain is the correct answer, it was my first adjustment.
And also remember you are setting the amp levels with the knobs, and that Drive is not the same as amp level.

JD-Xa box contents listing.
I bought a JD-Xa. The box has been opened. There is no box contents listing in the manual, nor online. Normally with a product, you get a page describing box contents and how to connect it.
What does a JD-Xa box contain?

Re: F02, created a kick, now want to add a digital bass. How
Answer is: Variation, select wave, make your own - or Copy Function. Don't forget to press Program Select to turn it off, or you lose your work. I would like the UI to be more JD-Xinteractive! :) Maybe in Firmware 1.6? :) Hoping!! When you have an idea for a song, you hunt for sounds. Let us hunt fo...

F02, created a kick, now want to add a digital bass. How?
On the JD-Xi, you selected sounds for the various parts. The JD-Xa has analog and digital parts. How do I select patches to put in those parts...? Read the Owner's Manual, doesn't seem to cover it. I.e. made an analog kick, sequenced a beat, now I want to select a named instrument and add to the bea...

Re: Metronome count in feature
Is there some way to contact Roland and ask them to put this in for the next Firmware Update? Just bought the JD-Xa as well - it's a killer feature! Pretty hard to hit record and make the first note quantize to Step 1, and near impossible if it's a chord or even two-handed, or a simple note+knob twe...

Re: Build of JDXi
Agree the keys could be better (anti-brittle-plastic kind, whatever the technical term is) but the only thing really that I don't like about them is just that they're Mini - hard to hit chords cleanly. But I like the springy resistance of them more than most synth action keys actually. Then again I ...

Re: How to clear a bank ?
Edit: There's a way via PC I think. But I think it would be quicker to clear f.ex. H01 (or put some 'default instruments' there), and then Write it to the bank you want to clear. So this would copy this "blank bank" over f.ex. E01. With the new selectable start program in Firmware 1.5, you...

Re: Metronome count in feature
Edit: it doesn't at the moment. At least there's no menu option that I can see on Firmware 1.5. I would like to hear if someone has it working, because it's a very useful feature. Pressing two buttons and a chord at the same millisecond is impossible. What you want is BIP-bip-bip-bip, BIP-bip-bip-bi...

Re: 5 stupid questions :P
All right, so you can do it per part with menu diving on the unit itself. (Main reason to buy a synth with the mini keys is to fiddle in the sofa.)
Maybe a shortcut in 1.6... hehe.
Thanks again :)
