Top two keys on Akai MPK261 don't make sounds with boutique
Hey guys, I have an Akai MPK261 that is connected to a Roland Boutique via Midi din. For whatever reason the top two keys won't produce any sounds when I play them. I can obviously make those notes if I switch octaves, so the issue isn't the notes being too high a register for the boutiques. When I ...

How do you turn on the Chorus via midi cc?
I'm trying to turn on chorus 1 or 2 using the midi cc. I am using a JU-06. According to the midi implementation document, Chorus is accessed using CC93 (I think?). My daw lets me set a level between 0-127, but the chorus has 4 settings: 1. chorus 1 off, chorus 2 off 2. chorus 1 on, chorus 2 off 3. c...

Re: How many voices of polyphony does the System-8 have?
Oh so does that mean that a D-50 plugout only has 8 voices?

How much polyphony does the Jupiter-8 plugin have?
I asked this same question on the System-8 forum, but I was wondering the same thing about the Roland Cloud VST. So I'll just copy and paste it here: I was wondering how many voices of polyphony the Jupiter-8 plugin has, especially while in dual mode. Typically each node when playing in dual mode wi...

How many voices of polyphony does the System-8 have?
I was wondering how many voices of polyphony the System-8 has, especially when it is using the Jupiter-8 plugout while in dual mode. Typically each node when playing in dual mode will take up 2 voices, because it is composed of an upper and lower voice. So, in the case of the Boutique JP-08 which on...

Re: Can anybody explain voice stealing while in chain mode?
Maybe I'm not really understanding this. What is the expected behavior? If you have 2 JUs in chain mode then you have 8 voices in total to work with. If you play 6 notes with long releases then 6 voices will be occupied until the notes release. If you play another 6 notes before the previous 6 have ...

Re: Can an SH-01A sound like a JU-06?
Cb, that is a very valid question. To be honest, I've been a bit jaded by how limited the JU-06's palette is compared to other boutiques like the SH-01a and the JP-08. Maybe they felt there was some redundancy in offering both the SH and JU.

Can anybody explain voice stealing while in chain mode?
I've seen some people mentioning how chain mode doesn't actually offer true 8-voice polyphony, that there is some voice stealing that occurs in some not-so-rare situations. Can somebody explain to me what the issue is? Does it affect all boutiques with chain mode, like the SH-01a and the SE-02? I kn...

Re: Does the D-05 have Chain Mode?
I got an answer from Roland directly. I emailed them and they said that the D-05 did not have chain mode. Case closed.

Does the D-05 have Chain Mode?
This stems from another thread where I was asking about the D-05. Does the D-05 have chain mode? Can you chain more than one D-05 together in the same way that you can with the first wave of boutiques? Is there any advantage to doing this?

Re: Any advantage of chaining a D-05 with a D-05?
This is a very good question, I just assumed that it would. I've always wanted a D-50 but I only have experience with older Rolands like Junos. Calculating Polyphony is much simpler than with the D-50/D-05 ha haiixorb wrote:do we know if the D05 supports chain mode?

Re: Does the JP-08 cover everything the JU-06 can do?
I have a JU but not a JP. Are you saying that the JU-06 has a bigger bottom end than the JP-08?papasan wrote:the unit has a bass boost circuit that gives it some bottom end oomph that the Jupiter won't give.

Any advantage of chaining a D-05 with a D-05?
I know that some of the other boutiques, like the JP-08 benefit from chaining in order to get 8 voice polyphony, but I think the D-05 already has 16 voice polyphony. So is there any advantage to chaining two D-05s? I'm not talking about layering, I'm talking about using full chain mode.

Are all Boutiques limited edition, or just the first three?
I know that the first three (JU-06, JP-08, JX-03) Roland Boutiques were marketed as "limited edition" and they have stopped making them. Are the rest of the boutiques also limited edition? And if the other boutiques aren't marketed as "limited edition", then what does that actual...
