Re: Firmware V2.03
Where is the 2.03 upgrade? I am only seeing earlier upgrades on Roland's various sites. Edit: Here it is … https://www.roland.com/us/support/by_product/fa-06/updates_drivers/?lang=en-US I did the update on both my FA-07 and FA-08. Nothing seems broken, but I don't know that I would notice whatever u...

Re: FA-07 Keybed Quality
Then connect 4 (!!!) D-05s together. Of course, at that point it is cheaper to get an original D-50. Currently, there is one on the local Craigslist for about $500.Cenobite wrote:D-05 is 16 voice.

Re: FA-07 Keybed Quality
The D-05 is nice. Just be aware that it only has 4 voices. You can change two of them together to get 8 voices. I think you can chain more for more voices if you choose, but then it does start getting expensive.

Re: new fa-07 owner
I must say that the more I use my FA-07 for daily practice, the more I am coming to appreciate what Roland has done at such a price point. I can practice much longer on the 76 key keyboard than on a piano. also, I can experiment with different pianos and piano-like sounds, keeping things interesting...

Re: New Boutique Synth RUMORS?
Well, I cashed in my chips, so to speak, and am out of the Boutique collection now. I realized after a while that the direction I was going with my equipment really isn't right for what I want to do. It was fun, but ultimately not suitable. So, I sold it all (the Akai MPC X and Boutique modules) off...

Re: import of larger wav file
I must add my thanks, Candy for that write-up. I grabbed it and saved as a PDF for future reference. You have saved me a LOT of time having to figure all that out. :)

Re: Possible new FA-07 user
I am not nearly as well versed in the market as Skijumptoes, so I appreciate the insights. I have owned various pieces of gear over the years, starting with a Casio CZ-5000, going on to a Sequential Circuits Prophet VS, and then to a Roland FP-8 digital piano. When that died, I got a Yamaha P-80, an...

Re: Possible new FA-07 user
It could be that I just wasn't aware of at the time of its introduction, but it just seems to me that there really wasn't a big splash in music circles about the FA series. I really just stumbled on it. The more I looked into it, the more appealing the FA series became for me. I don't hear folks loc...

Re: FA-06 ROM
From what I have read and heard, the FA series sounds are derived from the Integra-7. That doesn't help with the OP's question about ROM size, but should give an indication of the quality of the sounds, which is apparently the real concern.

Re: new fa-07 owner
Thanks so much for doing all that Skijumptoes! When you said: Recorded 100 notes into a bar, copied 997 times (99.7k notes for part 1 now on sequencer), went to copy all of track 1 to track 2 - and got 'Song Full' warning as it went to copy. ...to me that indicates somewhere in the vicinity of close...

Re: new fa-07 owner
I'll have a try later in the evening, in fact if i record a ton of controller changes and notes on and off, in a bar, copy them to each of the 16 parts, and then copy repeat them to all 997 measures be interesting how many 'events' that equals and what happens too. If i sequence 100 events into a b...

Re: Possible new FA-07 user
Thanks tony. I’m leaning towards a 61-key, but the 76(?) key is holding my interest a lot, so I’ll probably get that. Key feel isn’t as important to me as to many others. I’ve never played piano, only organ and prefer the softer feel. And yeah, weight is a consideration, but that’s why I keep my so...

Re: Possible new FA-07 user
Thanks Tony, As it turns out I would only need one midi cable as the communication via midi is one way, to the BK7M to tell it what to do. Audio wise it would be 2 sets of cables. From BK to FA to my Lowrey organ for its audio amp and speakers. Don't know if the FA will pass through like that but i...

Re: Possible new FA-07 user
I'm a bit tossed about which workstation to get. I like Roland gear a lot and the videos I've watched didn't leave me scratching my head much, so that's a plus. But in the back of my mind I wonder if the Korg Krome wouldn't be a better choice because of voices being somewhat different, and the touc...

Re: Possible new FA-07 user
You can send any of the 16 sequencer tracks via midi out to other devices, so yes, technically you could send chords to the BK7M and it then responds as it's job as arranger, and you can play on a totally different part on the FA. You could probably record direct into the FA 'from' the arranger too...
