Not true. The DC cable was on a different side than the on/off switch. It was certainly put there to protect the switch. Unless you're talking about a different plastic piece.

I have my settings set exactly as you have stated above. My DAW is Reaper, I still cannot get this to work. I’m starting to think this is not possible on the RD800.
