The channels on the JD-Xi can be changed by sysex commands.
You can create a pattern with these sysex commands on the MC909 (tempo/mute track), send it to the JD-Xi through the midi out and then do a pattern save on the JD-Xi.

Re: JD-Xi questions
I don't have my own git branch. In current git master https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/sound/usb/pcm.c procedure "search_roland_implicit_fb", line 297 Replace this line if (!iface || iface->num_altsetting < altsetting + 1) by if (!iface || iface->num_altsetting < altsetting) i...

Re: JD-Xi questions
There is a bug in the Linux snd-usb-audio module that prevents the JDXI from working in duplex mode.
I recently wrote a quickfix that makes it work (at least on my aged 3.14.12 kernel).
If you are able to compile your own kernel i could provide that patch.

There is a version 1.50 supplementary manual at the Roland US site, but no binary yet.

Re: to 909 users: pattern change during resampling
on the 909, if you select pattern call (so the button is lit) before going into resampling mode, you can change between the patterns of this pattern call set with the pads. You cannot dial-in some other pattern or use the cursor key to jump to some pattern though.

<t>Note sustain:

As written already you can make one part sustain into the next pattern if that part in the next pattern doesn't contain any data.

So by moving a motiv between two patterns between say part
1 and 2, you can play sustained notes throughout a complete song.<b...

Re: Fantom S/X Sample Importing Tool 1.25 released today!
Grek, could you enhance it to a true converter by adding AKAi and GIGA support?
For source code ofr reading Akai and Giga Format you can look at some linux
tools (google for linuxsampler, libakai, akaitools).
Good work so far.

Re: Sampling quality problem...
<t>Actually this is a property of all JV/XV synths.

The problem seems to be that any wavefrom is attenuated
by 20dB before entering the synth engine (you can see
it from the meters when you resample). The lower bits
seem to be cut only, thus harmonics are laking.
<br/...

Multisample Request
<t>Hello all,

i am a MC909 user, who would like to have multisampling
in the MC909.

I've already written a utility that converts simple wav/aiff
samples to roland format (so one doesn't have to go
through the TMP folder). May be useful for Fantom-S users
al...
