Max is 1GB (the same goes for other expandable racks/workstations of the era like the Motif ES), the kind is PC133 SDRAM. I'm guessing that the Fantom just can't address anything higher than 1024MB.

I just got the 1GB PC133 CL3 SDRAM stick I ordered a few weeks ago and after installing it I noticed that the XR disables the internal 16MB of RAM. Curiously enough it's recognized as a 1024mb stick but only 1018mb are usable. Is this due to some incompatibility with memory above 1024mb total? Or is...

Update: on an empty card the XR shows the full capacity of 32gb correctly but even though it's completely empty it'll still show that only ~60% is empty. Odd.

I have this problem too. I converted some S700 libraries, imported them on the XR from the utility > import menu (which takes AGES. It's ridiculously slow even for something from 2004, loading samples from SCSI CD drives takes LESS) and saved them on a CF card. They'll play fine and their patch name...

Yeah, it's honestly really weird. I'm absolutely sure there's some way to do it - after all the librarian CAN do it remotely - but not the editor. I've never looked into it but maybe there are third party editors for the X series? Luckily my Fantom sits in my crappy homemade rack right behind my lap...

I found this puzzling too and couldn't find a way to permanently write to it remotely via the editor , only via the hardware itself. It's only a few button pushes but it's still irritating. Maybe too many people complained about accidentally overwriting their patches with something they didn't want ...

Ended up trading my SRX-12 for the SRX-09 and loading the patches. Unfortunately, no, that one doesn't play correctly, just like it didn't on the VST.

Ahhh well, at least I got the card.
