SYSTEM-1m Decksaver?
Apparently they are not making one for the SYSTEM-1m specifically, but maybe someone here tried already and can tell me if one of their other models fits? Seems to me that the decksavers for some of the 19-inch-ish Behringer desktop synths might be just about the correct dimensions? But before I ord...

Re: For those interested to buy a System-8
Last but not least, I must report another issue when external MIDI sync is enabled, in order to use the System-8 with a DAW external sequencer. Enabling TEMPO SYNC for rhythmic effect using DELAYS onboard effects, some bizarre changes in pitch of delayed notes are clearly audible and the display on...

MIDI Sync Out USB
Something strange happened and I don't quite get it, so I am hoping maybe someone here can explain it to me. I've been using Audacity to record stuff from my MC-707 "for forever" as it were. I never had a problem. Until I attached my SYSTEM-1m via MIDI. Now whenever I tried to record, some...

Re: New Roland MC-707 Review
We don't disagree on the terrible "marketing controls engineering" crap that all manufacturers are pulling off. It's terrible. Step back? Of course, I mean they used to build 32-part multi-timbral synths just for people to connect to their MS-DOS machines for DOOM. The only thing I was say...

Re: New Roland MC-707 Review
I don't know, the way it works on the MC-707 you can take a preset and tweak it a lot for your project, but that doesn't mess with the preset itself. If there was a separate "user presets" section, you'd still want to be able to tweak them for your project without actually affecting that &...

SYSTEM-1(m) Clicky Envelopes?
Is it just me or are the envelopes particularly "clicky" on this thing? Especially at the start of a sound, but sometimes also at the end unless I carefully shape it using either decay or release? I am used to the MC-707 and the JV-1010 and they seem decidedly less "clicky" to me?

Re: assign reverb send in matrix
Agreed. So no "zone/clip" setting, it's all either tone or partial.

Re: .shl librarian file format
There's also a "KoaDataFile" thing in the .bin files they are using for SYSTEM-1 and PLUG-OUT presets. But of course, no information on those file formats either. However, there might be a way forward since the presets you can "back up" via USB are plain text. So I guess one can ...

Re: assign reverb send in matrix
Note that there are multiple reverb send parameters: Partial Reverb Send (pre MFX) Tone Reverb Send (post MFX) Zone/clip Reverb Send AIUI, the REV destination in the modulation matrix affects the partial reverb send. Try setting the partial reverb send to 0, the tone reverb send to 0, and the zone/...

Re: assign reverb send in matrix
This might not be the right thing but MAYBE it is? Are you also using an MFX and maybe that MFX doesn't send to reverb/delay?

Re: System 1 - How to add new patches?
Just did it with my SYSTEM-1m yesterday and yes, it works. However, I personally find those presets a bit ... too exotic? I mean so far I've not actually heard good bread-and-butter sounds from my SYSTEM-1m. I guess I'll have to make some. Random LFO modulation to the resonating filter? Every other ...

For "future me" or whoever else wants to know down the line: It's the bank change LSB 0-7 followed by the program change 0-7 to select one of the 64 patches in the v1.2+ SYSTEM-1m firmware.

Re: How do I use a J-6 as a MIDI input device on an MC-707?
I know that I had to fight with the MIDI RX configuration for a while before my external keyboard worked. Sadly I currently have no memory what I actually did. I guess what I am saying is: Often it's configuration and not wiring. The MIDI settings on the MC-707 are all over the place and to me it's ...

Wow, 50+ people read this and there's not a single person who owns a System 1 and has used program change? I think I may have to skip this one. :-O

System 1 Program Change
I have an offer for a System 1m but given my previous encounters with "program change" issues I am skeptical. The original MIDI implementation leaflet for the System 1 states that only "0-7" are received presumably because the original firmware only had 8 preset slots/buttons. I ...
