Re: Midi Out Functionality and other Questions about MC-808
<t>holy war is not my intention <br/> <br/> but <br/> <br/> the question was about adding MIDI data on the fly (read the first post), not resampling <br/> <br/> and <br/> <br/> you can't (read this part literally) switch from pattern mode to song mode and vice versa while the machine is in playback ...

Re: Midi Out Functionality and other Questions about MC-808
<t>> Nord72 <br/> <br/> read what Extravert asked about recording_on_the_fly <br/> <br/> again - you can't record on the fly. neither on 808 nor on 909. <br/> <br/> ARP and RPS both require pre-programming and give no way to alter their source data during playback <br/> <br/> on the other hand - you...

Re: Midi Out Functionality and other Questions about MC-808
<t>1. yes <br/> 2. no. you can resample main out internally, whatever goes there. if you want to resample each track, then you'll have to solo and resample one-by-one. <br/> 3. to be exact - you can export a pattern as an SMF file, not individual tracks. <br/> 4. no way. its always "stop playback - ...

Re: Importing more than one sample?
<r>the attached zip contains the sample converter/number generator. <br/> this is a command line utility. <br/> it was already mentioned here several times, but looks like no one remembers. <br/> <br/> zip taken from mc909.org download section. <br/> works for 808 as well, since file system structur...

Re: Improved editor script
<t>You'll have to recompile the script, since the authors of 909 modification did not change the rhythm part editing logic, which i did. <br/> <br/> To give you a start - the script section that initializes editing windows does nothing more advanced than opening those windows one-by-one by clicking ...

Re: SVD file analyzed?
then the question is about addressing the corresponding edit buffer (1 out of 16) as well as setting the part being addressed to the "rhythm" mode. have a look at http://www.groovemanager.com/ the guy named Manuel wrote the editor/drum set exporter for 909, which is very similar in MIDI im...

Re: SVD file analyzed?
what is the purpose of doing that?
perhaps there could be other ways to get to the same point.
considering the amount of parameters per patch, trying to catch what does yet another pair of bytes do is a very time-consuming process 8)

Re: RPS: No drum loops in user patterns?
i have my 808 reset to the basic waveform set and zero factory patterns/rps, so it'll take considerable time to move everything back and forth between my custom settings and factory defaults
perhaps someone with the factory set present is willing to help

Re: RPS: No drum loops in user patterns?
<t>might be the drum mapping, but basically if you had sequenced that MDI file yourself and it had been sounding correctly being played off your sequencer, then no problems should occur.<br/> <br/> speaking of drum mapping - could it be that you had some filtering or re-mapping/re-channeling of drum...

Re: RPS: No drum loops in user patterns?
<t>sounds weird.<br/> <br/> then try to save the pattern in question to a different location, this might help to get rid of problematic MIDI data, that might be present in the original MIDI file and could cause the machine to respond in that way.<br/> <br/> re-saving should rectify the MIDI stream f...

Re: RPS: No drum loops in user patterns?
you should elaborate on how exactly do you assign an rps phrase to a pad, and do you save rps set afterward
to me it looks like you're missing some step in the procedure

Re: MC-808 Editor over Standard MIDI? (Quick question...)
<t>dr, absolutely the same<br/> <br/> no actual sample data is transferred over MIDI or USB, only "peak overview" for display purposes. and the packet length is the same, no matter if you're looking at 1 sec or 1 minute sample - the packet length corresponds to the horizontal number of pixels on the...

Re: MC-808 Editor over Standard MIDI? (Quick question...)
In my experience it does not matter what type of connection you use, USB or MIDI I-O, the speed of the editor will be the same.
I personally prefer MIDI for the editor, cause that way you can avoid error messages from the editor after switching 808 to USB storage mode.
