Re: G6 - Pro Tools 9 - Syncing issues!!
The Fantom's AUDIO out (1/4" cables) need to be sent into the M-Audio's AUDIO inputs (1/4" cables). The most important thing to understand about MIDI is that it is not sound. No sound ever goes down a MIDI cable, nor the MIDI stream within a USB cable. To make things even more confusing, t...

Re: G6 - Pro Tools 9 - Syncing issues!!
Nah, it's just a pet peeve of mine. I'll get over it eventually, like I got over everyone with ProTools Free talking about how they had a "ProTools Rig". And I was a part of that culture, so I should rightfully take some of the blame. But man, it was frustrating as hell being asked to &quo...

<t>Yeah, it sounds like arrogance, and it probably is, but it's also the truth. <br/> <br/> I worked in Top-40-selling hip hop/R&B writing camps throughout the late 90s and early 00s and witnessed first hand how: <br/> <br/> • Chorus became "hook" <br/> • Hook became "that thing that's cool ther...

Re: G6 - Pro Tools 9 - Syncing issues!!
First of all, what you want to do has nothing to do with "syncing". Yet another studio/music term bastardized by hip hop culture. 1. Run the audio outputs of your Fantom to the audio inputs of your M-Audio box. Can you record it like you can record a mic or guitar? If so, then you're half-...

Re: Fantom-G vs. Apogee One/Duet
I've built a dozen or so Logic/Mac laptop/Apogee Duet rigs for friends, and they're great. Excellent build quality, top-notch audio, and very portable.

or blame the overall sound quality of the ARX boards.
Yeah, maybe. I really like the drums board. Haven't spent much time with the other two. Pop brass couldn't be more less Audacity Works unless it were an accordion. Or a noseflute.

Re: Problems with the Fantom G driver
EDIT: wait, do I have to plug my computer's monitors into the G's outputs in order to hear anything? I was hoping to hear it through my computer without having to unplug stuff. Yes. And you'd want to do that anyway, because the Fantom-G's outputs sound notably better than any off-the-shelf consumer...

Re: Update... Got to play a MotifXF8 today. Not as good as
As you all know, I have voiced some frustration with Roland and company after what I considered a devastating Roland Connect 2010 launch that provides "nothing" for Fantom G owners. I sure hope that's not meant to be an empirical statement. Because if it was, it's the most inaccurate empi...

Re: ARX ARX ARX ????? COME ON ROLAND!!!
<t>New ARX boards are wholly dependent on the success of existing ARX boards. They're most likely much more expensive (expensive = man hours, development-wise) than SRX or JV-80 boards, and hence, require a higher return on investment. <br/> <br/> At worst, blame the marketing people who thought the...

Insert the Lo-Fi PFX onto the kick and snare, and use the Mastering processor to compress it all to hell.

Re: another bug when using sync output on
There's something else going on. Doesn't happen here at all. Make sure soft thru's not on, make sure your KBD switches for your external parts are all off (except for 1). Make sure the internal part's KBD switch is off...

Start by applying the LoFi MFX processor and tweaking it from there. A lot of that sound comes from lower bit and sample rates.

What does "sync" mean? What are you trying to accomplish? 90% of the time, when people say "sync", they mean something else.

Re: Horrible noise from S/PDIF audio
Also make sure you're using a proper 75-ohm S/PDIF cable, not a regular RCA. They're typically thick blue cables with gold connectors.
