Re: Discontinued

Very sad that Roland abandoned this beautiful instrument. I've been really digging deep into the Synth side of Supernatural. I created a seemingly very simple Liveset for instance that has only one Tone and in that Tone, only two Partials! The sound is freaking huge AND very musically useful. The re...

Re: Love for the Jupiter 80

It drives me nuts when people slam this magnificent synth because people feel it doesn't deserve the Jupiter moniker. My response is usually, "call it Neptune then and explore the depths." (Yeah you knew that was coming! I think my response to those people would be Uranus! ;) LOL Nice!!!

Re: Former JP 50 owner ponders JP80

Hey Troggg, I don't use Cubase so I can't answer your question directly. That said, the huge color touch screen makes navigation a LOT easier. I'm saddened that Roland threw in the towel on the 80 AND the 50. These Jupiters are insanely powerful. Get an 80! Warning, it's a hell of a lot heavier than...

Love for the Jupiter 80

Hi all, I have had this beauty since 2013 and I am still staggered with it's power. I'm always discovering something new. I've played the newer Roland synths and for me at least, the Jupiter 80 leaves them in the dust. So how about folks? Anybody else still love her/his Jupiter 80? It drives me nuts...

Re: Jupiter 80 partner's keyboard

I pair my Jupiter 80 with a Korg Kronos and the two sound perfect together as each strengthens the other's weaknesses. I also play a Kurzweil PC3 live and these three cover everything I need in a British invasion act I am in as lead vocalist and keyboardist. It's a challenge to recreate some of the ...

Re: Is Jupiter-80 on the way out?

If you are basing your decision on whether an instrument is "on the way out," you might as well not buy anything. As others have noted, you must ask yourself what your needs are and what instrument is capable of filling those needs. There is no "perfect" synth and there never wil...

Re: Jupiter rack?

I wouldn't trade my Jupiter, Motif XF or any other hardware synth for Mainstage & Omnisphere 2, Komplete or Diva. Hardware synths have their own sound going on - their own sheen. Its possible to get close to some of the sounds but not something I want to spend time doing. Aside from a massive h...

Thanks Devnor,

I'll give your ideas a try; you've certainly come up with more elegant solutions than I. :)

Help Please?

Hi all, I need to create a Therimin sound on the 80 for Whole Lotta Love. I've been using the solo synth function (D-Beam) on the Fantom X8 but I'm tired of lugging the silver beast around. I've tried to recreate the sound on a Radias and Kronos but I suspect there is an easier way on the 80. I wish...

Re: JP80 sounds compared to the FA-08

I have just replied another post in which I stress a point that many people seemed to omit since jupiters went out: it is not only a matter of comparing "sound banks", but the whole dynamics/layering/effects/arpeggios of the jupiters and what these combinations are capable of. Possibiliti...

Re: Jupiter-80 successor

I think the JD-XA is a good synth in is own class, but in my opinion not a succesoor of the Jupiter. I have the feeling it won't be Rolands flagship keyboard for long. If this idea of crossover is embraced by consumers I think they will come with new synths in this line, but I am a very bad 'predic...

Re: Jupiter-80 successor

Why the rush? Why does the JP80 need a "successor?" Maybe I'm the village idiot here but I cannot imagine ever exhausting the sonic possibilities of this instrument. Then again, I don't believe in obsolescence so don't mind me. :)

Re: jupiter 80 vs korg kronos!which one should i choose?

LA Keys, The Kronos 2 is MUCH more than the addition of wood panels. Have a look at the Korg site. Also, for existing Kronos and Kronos X users, Korg released a MASSIVE upgrade that incorporates the new features of Kronos 2. Now before you jump on me a Korg fanboi, among the other instruments I have...

Re: complete noobie

Worth, I am selling my Fantom X8 only because here in Holland, it's a bitch to move around, so I replaced it with a Jupiter 80. Anyhow, message me if you are interested. The tricky bit would be shipping. I really hate the idea of selling it as it is an exemplary workstation but, I am also trying to ...

Re: New Roland Synthesizer Workstation Coming at Namm 2014

..and we're still not one step further than when this thread was started. In the absence of any teaser I don't have any great expectations for Roland's offering at NAMM. Maybe they shifted the focus of their flagship releases to Frankfurt. Although KORG is well represented in the workstation market...
