Re: When will ROLAND release their next Workstation ?
Maybe Roland's next workstation will be a hardware sequencer / control surface. The way I see it, it will comprise 2 distinct blocks : the screen unit and the control unit. The screen unit should have a multi-touch surface of at least FG dimensions. Think of it as of Roland proprietary iPad. Bigger,...

Re: I hope a 61-key version is on the horizon
I totally agree. As I said in earlier posts, I think Jupiter 80 is a bulky and heavy board, not quite suited for live gigging, unless you're not carrying it yourself. I wished they'd deliver the same professional appearance and features but in a smaller and lighter enclosure. They might scrap some b...

Re: J80 Price - Ouch!
Mokjarma, you may be right about the individual note sound but please take into account V-synth polyphony. JP-80 is miles ahead in terms of polyphony. Maybe a JD-800 / V-synth knob approach would have been more appropriate IMO. However you cannot say that specs have not increased over time. You may ...

Re: New Roland Workstation during (2011) ?
<A potential ARX Flash woudln't add so much value to the existing FG since the file system of the FG is completely flawed. We have discussed it ad nauseum.> < No, it wouldn't. Adding something new on one side, and leaving the OS as it is now wouldn't change anything.> Yeah, and I also said "If ...

Re: New Roland Workstation during (2011) ?
The best thing Roland could do with the G is to release an ARX device for Flash memory . I've heard enough rants about sounds. Remember that your G is not only a synth, it is also a SAMPLER so if you need better sound then nothing is barring you to have them. Of course you may need to shell some bu...

Where are the detailed single instruments demos?
I must confess I expected that much from the very beginning, since the JP80 was touted as a synth which delivers expressive natural instruments. Okay, so my question is: when is Roland going to show us some (any) demos regarding these instruments, by category / name ? They cannot possibly expect eve...

Well, time for a little history: High-end - corresponding - mid / low end (in the same timeframe) Motif to (nothing) Motif ES to MO Motif XS to MM Motif XF to MOX ? to MOFOX (or maybe MMF?) :D Constructive criticism: it's Yamama, not Yamana. :))) You got it wrong... The MO is a lite ES, yeah. But t...

Re: New JUPITER-80 video from the show... clean audio!
<But really, to me, it's a 12 to 1400 dollar keyboard, max> If you refer strictly to features, it's not far away from the Stage (and even the Stage was more expensive than 1400 I guess). But you have to take into account also premium mats, touchscreen, faders, new synth engine, etc. I'd say the corr...

Re: SonicState JUPITER-80 preview video
Well, to be honest, my "review" has been done prior to watching to Scott Tibbs great demo. After watching this, I must confess some of my previous doubts have been shattered but some still remain. Regarding controllers, it's a subjective point of view. Even if some of the more modern appro...

Re: Official Roland Jupiter 80 Info Up
<So here comes my point - what is Roland's flagship keyboard?> Roland never had a "ring to rule them all". It's been their long-lasting policy. Back then they had Jupiters and Junos. And they kept coming in pairs. D-50 and W-30. D-70 and JD-800. They even did not have sequencers included. ...

Re: SonicState JUPITER-80 preview video
The Plus: - Polyphony (256?) - Touchscreen - Intuitive interface, very easy to use and very friendly - Lots of buttons (too early to tell if they're hard-coded or they're fully programmable) - Build quality (except the USB front panel hatch which is IMO crappy looking - also remarked the video cunni...

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
<Although be carefull, you might get accused for trolling.> Huh? <So, you're more interested how 3.5 grand synth looks like than how it sounds?> Don't play linguistics with me. It's about the materials you're using to build it. Let's face it, the most expensive stuff is not in the guts (although I a...

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
I still think this one is a fake. Come on! The cheap plastic USB key cover? That's not how a 3,5 grand synth looks like! And what's about those Atelier-like buttons on the player's side? I know this is supposed to have "supernatural organs" but hey, hasn't Roland delivered a VR-combo AND a...
