Re: Roland fantom ....What’ s next for 2.00 update ?

The Jupiter xm engines Sampler update FX routing update (samples) Analog filter modulation The more I dig in, the more I realize this is really what's missing... especially the FX routing. This is horribly under spec'd. Two MFX, a dedicated reverb, and a dedicated chorus per scene? Really? How abou...

Re: V-Piano layering limitations

Hi. Have you played the V-Piano per se (and not a part of a Fantom)? I'm no expert... I've only ever played the (limited) version of V-Piano found on the RD-2000, which I believe is the same version as the Fantom, but not the full version found on the Big "V-Piano" stage piano. The versio...

Re: V-Piano layering limitations

V-Piano... you either love it or hate it. I have an RD-2000 and prefer the SN pianos over the V-Piano. This after hours of trying to get the V-Piano to sound "right" to my ears. YMMV.

Re: Requests to Roland (official)

1. The complete V-Piano - not just the limited version from the RD-2000. 2. Better EFX routing options (see Korg Kronos routing options) 3. Add a proper Shimmer reverb, such as from the Boss RV-6 pedal 4. Adopt a support philosophy similar to the way Korg has supported the Kronos - i.e. future versi...

Re: Jupiter 80 and Fantom 8

Played on a Fantom 6 today and the keybed was exactly what I was hoping it would be... pretty much in line with the same quality as the JP80. I was blown away at the simplicity of this keyboard. It's pretty darn intuitive to me.

Re: Jupiter 80 and Fantom 8

If I had to just work with two keyboards from now on, it would be the JP-80 and the new Fantom. That is indeed a powerful quote. I'd be equally interested to learn how the new Fantom pairs with the JP-X, especially from a tactile UI perspective along with the difference in tones... but that review ...

Re: So far I love everything about the Fantom except

Roland always has the best keybeds IMHO. I have to say the System-8 keyboard is pretty mediocre. Yes, I agree... perhaps I should have said Roland's "pro' version of keybeds are some of the best. They certainly have some garbage keybeds out there. I had the System 8 for a few months, and yes t...

Re: This is more like it!!!

I like the idea of the Jupiter-X a lot. Sound generation type always seemed an odd debate to me... analog/digital... I still don't completely understand the passion for either, but different strokes for sure. Looking forward to hearing it in person. How does it sound and how do I connect with the U...

Re: Gearslutz.com

The rules for Gear Sluts: If it's more than $300 it's always too expensive If it's not a Behringer clone they won't like it If it's not Analog they won't like it If it's Roland they will automatically not like it It’s pretty dumb to make sweeping generalizations about everyone who participates in d...

Re: Jupiter 80 and Fantom 8

I have a Jupiter/Fantom weekend planned - children away on trips and wife got concerts; so its me, some wine and my 'other' two beautiful ladies. I'll get back to you on Monday with more thoughts and experiences. Looking forward to your thoughts. I parted with my JP80 last year... the new Fantom se...

Re: So far I love everything about the Fantom except

its bulkiness and heaviness. The Fantom 8 weighs more than 61 lbs whereas the RD-2000, which is built like a tank, weighs only 47 lbs. The Fantom6/7 weighs more than any synth action keyboard Roland has produced since the JX-10 except the Jupiter-80. I understand the Fantom needs enough real estate...

Re: RD-2000 vs FP-90 vs Yamaha CP88

I have an RD-2000 in my home studio, and an FP-90 upstairs in the kids' media room. They're both great boards, and through the same sound system they sound identical... same keybed feel. My son loves the FP-90 whereas I prefer the RD-2000, but that is merely preference for the sound and workflow. As...

JP-80 Keybed verses...

Has anyone compared the JP-80's keybed to other comparable synths and commented? Obviously the JP-80's keybed is pretty amazing. How does it compare to the new Yamaha Montage. - Compared to my Kronos2 61, the JP-80 is noticeably better, although the Kronos isn't bad. - Compared to the Prophet Rev2, ...

Re: Anybody else copying from other Synths.

This is good info here... but has anyone done this between the JP-80 and the S8 and done A/B comparisons? Would love to know how that worked out, especially using the JP-80 filter that was supposedly modeled after the Jupiter 8 (I think filter 2 if I'm not mistaken). When I played an S8 there were s...
